Sam's Chicken Tooting Broadway — Restaurant in London

Had food from here several times but never thought I'd have to leave a review like this.

It seems to me that a fraudulent business is being operated here. My friend was charged £70 for a bottle of water. This happened the previous weekend so during the weekend that just passed we came back to query this charge as we are both not local.

To me, an honest business would be horrified about this sort of mistake and would try to rectify it immediately, but not Sam's. We went early on Saturday to sort it out but were told to return at 6PM when the manager would be around. So we came back at 6, but of course the manager wasn't there yet. We came again about an hour later and spoke to this so called manager who told us to come back on Monday morning. Now this was a problem as my friend does not live in London, but I said I would return on his behalf. Now, this morning I returned and spoke to a different manager who then told me I needed to bring a bank statement showing this charge occurred.

It seems to me this is something that happens often here as Sam's has shown no willingness to sort this out at all. Thankfully, this isn't an issue for my friend, but not everyone can afford for £70 to be missing from their bank account. I want to know how in good conscience this business can hold that amount of somebody's money fraudulently and not be mortified and want to sort it out.

Very disappointed and I will not be returning here again. Abbys has nicer chicken anyway.

I used to frequent this establishment often, despite consistently encountering issues with the staff's attitude. However, my recent experience was the worst yet.

I visited the shop and ordered four Blaze Fillet burgers, 20 wings, and fries. I explicitly told the person at the till that I wanted the burgers freshly made and didn't mind waiting longer for them. I even mentioned that I would return them if they weren't served at the right temperature. Upon receiving the food, I took it back to the car. My wife took a bite of her burger, only to find it stale and cold. Despite my kids being hungry and noticing their burgers weren't hot, they decided to keep them. I, however, returned the other two burgers to the shop to address the issue.

I explained that despite my clear instructions for fresh food, I was given cold burgers. The person at the till, along with another staff member, came to the front and accused me of always causing problems. I asked him to touch the burger to verify its temperature, but he refused. Instead, he snatched the burgers from my hands and threw it in the bin before making replacements. He rudely remarked that he is doing it this time but wouldn't do so again, showing a blatant lack of respect in front of other customers. I didn't do anything wrong. Awful customer service!!!!!

Ordered through deliveroo app. Order was shown as out for delivery for 40 minutes with no update. Then recieved a phone call from the shop stating that there had been an incident in the shop and demanding that I cancel the order myself through the deliveroo app. I have tried to do so but I have not been able to do so as the app has shown the order as being prepared. I have then tried to explain this over the phone to the restaurant but I was then passed to the manager who has promptly talked over me again demanding that I cancel the order myself several times before hanging up on me. I have tried to call back but was not able to get through to the restaurant.

I have then walked the short distance to the restaurant myself to see if there had been an incident. I have then seen the staff in no way shape or form dealing with any type of incident and rather laughing and joking whilst closing up the shop.

I have then walked back and had to make a 20 minute phonemail to get a refund.

In conclusion an absolutely awful experience that has highlighted the restaurant's clear lack of customer service and willingness to outright lie with the anonymity of a phone call. Will not be ordering from these people again and would highly recommend avoiding as there are a lot more restaurants that are both honest and fair in the...
