Never been a big fan of pizza in spite of going to some of the best pizza restaurants in London and overseas. I've been a local to Hither Green for twenty years and when I saw the new restaurant on the corner it is always busy and looks very inviting plus I'd heard great things from friends. Went there recently on a Tuesday night with my American wife and a friend. We ordered a pizza each and shared the three between us. Absolutely loved the food and couldn't wait to go back again. Been telling all my clients to go there as the pizza was great but there was one downside. The waitress put the bill on the table without us asking for it. After a few minutes we promptly asked to pay the bill then left. I put it down to that maybe they would be closing soon or they needed the table for some late diners as we hadn't booked. Went there again a month later with my wife and the same friend, again we just turned up with out booking a table. After we had finished eating they asked if we wanted a dessert which we declined then the waiter came back and put the bill on the table like the first time without us asking for it. We carried on talking for a few minutes then the waiter came back with the PDQ machine for us to pay with out us asking. We paid the bill then left immediately. My wife being American is just not used to this. As we left she said "I don't feel welcome here". I have since stopped telling people to go there as this has marred our experience of what is a great pizza! For me putting the bill on the table is the rudest gesture a waiter could do, far beyond bad service or any other kind of rudeness. Again I thought maybe they needed the table but there were empty tables as we left, a father and son that were there when we arrive we're still there when we left plus there were other empty table too. The pizza is great but I'm very reluctant to go back so only giving three stars due to this. I might go back in a few months but if it happens a third time...
Read morei recently visited this restaurant as me and my friend walked past and thought we’d venture out for something new and to say i was disappointed is an understatement. we witnessed a higher staff member mistreating a female waitress who clearly seemed very unwell and upset. i have never seen management treat employees in such way and would urge the girl to leave as soon as possible because it created an uncomfortable environment for me and my friend and couldn't imagine how she must felt. definitely do not recommend working nor eating in here!!
edit: in repsonse to your reply i must say im appalled! I have no idea what you are talking about here but this is none of my business… this is what i witnessed and so this is what i’ve reported. i have never come across such a dismissive disrespectful company!! 100% do not recommend coming here the food is mid at best!
my final word: Please do check the cctv cameras and see what we have also witnessed. We saw a staff member in distress with a lack of empathy being shown towards her. I haven’t reported it to the police… though considering the manner in which this company is going about this situation prehaps i would need to inform HR to investigate? If you’re able to behave this way towards a person online as a company, i can’t imagine what you are doing with your staff beyond this matter … if the owner will provide his details then i would go to them directly but you havent once given me that option so i was forced to go to the google reviews. as freedom of speech is very powerful in this country i am allowed to do so so please dont ridicule me for bringing to light your mistreatment of...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this Italian restaurant, but sadly the experience was disappointing.
From the start, we felt our 4-year-old was completely overlooked — the waitress asked if the table was “just for the two of us,” not acknowledging our child at all. A kids’ menu wasn’t offered until after we had already ordered, and throughout the meal it felt like she was an afterthought rather than a valued guest.
Service was patchy. Another table seated after us had their order taken first, and overall it was difficult to get the attention of the waitresses. They didn’t come across as particularly friendly, though I do appreciate that by the end of the evening the restaurant was full and clearly understaffed (two waitresses for a packed dining room isn’t fair on them either).
Food was also mixed:
The “garlic focaccia” turned out to be more like a flatbread - not focaccia at all.
The beef shin ravioli was actually tortellini, and unfortunately so spicy it was barely edible. I did mention this to the waitress, but was surprised it still appeared on the bill.
The rocket salad was literally limp leaves with no dressing.
On the positive side, the tiramisu was excellent, and our daughter was delighted when the waitress offered her some Smarties with her ice cream — a nice touch.
Overall, a frustrating evening with small redeeming moments. I think it’s a real shame, as for a small independent restaurant that relies on repeat custom and word of mouth, we cannot recommend it based on...
