Silver Dollar — Restaurant in London

Really don't get what people still see in this place. Might've been good at some point in the past but if it ever was, it's seriously gone downhill. Got served manky dry shrivelled mushrooms cooked with nothing but a few leaves of parsley on a plate by some woman in a manky baggy t-shirt and a lopsided grinace that made her look like she wasn't capable of ever smiling. No, seriously. Shamedley served! The pizza was also prioer rank. Hardly any sauce and had this funny taste to it. We threw benefit of doubt and just ordered another pizza - margarita to be on the safe side, but same thing. Oh, and, a thin base shouldn't turn into cardboard within minutes. I'll just keep my mouth shut about the decor and service. No offense here, but I guess when you have a Greek cafe, trying to serve Italian pizza, and your client base is predominantly Indian... The service is just terrible and the food isn't even close. Once upon a time this place had great reviews. I am sorry to have to leave a bad review for a small business, but our visit to Silver Dollar tonight was bad from start to finish. The hostess was rude and uninviting. We were the ONLY people in the restaurant at 5:30pm, however she told us they were very busy with take-away orders and it would be a longer wait for our pizza. We proceeded to wait while watching delivery person after person come in and out for take away orders, while we --- the only people actually seated in the restaurant-- continued not to be served. The pizza is nothing close to New York style pizza (I know, I am from NYC). In fact, it is hard to call this pizza at all. It is like tomato sauce and cheese on top of a cream cracker. Anything with garlic had way too much garlic (and I love garlic!). We paid £77 for 4 bad pizzas and bad service.

It is a ashame, because we have been to Silver Dollar before several years ago and we remembered it being a really good experience and really good pizza. Sadly, I can no longer say that and we will not...

We paid over a week in advance for a large party order and Silver Dollar kindly agreed to deliver them (we knew this was them making an exception).

Everything was confirmed, including delivery, a couple of days before the party.

On the day, we get a call just hours before the party that they can no longer deliver and we will need to pay for delivery. At this point, no one was free to pick up as we were mid hosting.

Why back out of a commitment you already made AND ask the customer to foot the bill for you not being able to meet the commitment.

Things happen. But as a business that made a promise (multiple times), we feel let down that they did not foot the bill for delivery.

It’s not about the money, just that we couldn’t rely on them even though we gave them plenty of notice, paid upfront and even called and confirmed the plan days in advance.

Everyone in the party felt let down by this customer service.
