It’s got a plywood, unvarnished vibe with candles in beer bottles, water in wine bottles, etc. There’s lots of space and it’s easy to fit a party.
The large pizza oven is a bit hidden from most diners, but it looks legit. All the pizzas look great, are filling and reasonably priced. The menu isn’t long but it’s a good mix. Drinks are the same, not many choices but good quality.
The sides are interesting too - pickled cucumbers isn’t just a fancy way of putting a few pickles on the plate but genuinely interesting and flavourful. The garlic pizza bread is almost a meal in itself!
Service was quick but it was a little tricky. We had to ask several times just to hear what was being said - both servers were very quiet.
However if you’re gluten free … maybe go elsewhere. They don’t have gluten free bases and instead provide the pizza toppings on broad beans?! They’ll alert you to the fact, if you can hear what they’re saying, but it’s tricky when you’re there as a group to go elsewhere.
Also don’t be confused by the menu assertion about sour dough involving less gluten - it’ll still mess up your gut. Sadly something like a goats cheese and walnut salad doesn’t seem available.
A solid choice on Deptford High Street with some competition nearby (the arches) to keep it in check, but avoid if...
Read moreSodo Pizza - far from satisfactory. I ordered a marinara pizza. What I received was a subpar margherita pizza minus the cheese, which essentially amounted to a bland, tomato-slathered crust. A marinara is not just a margherita without the cheese. The overall taste was disappointingly basic, lacked depth and flavor, When I mentioned this to the waiter, he said I ordered the margherita without cheese and I said I ordered a marinara! He said, well that’s a margarita without cheese. Ha!
The visit was a major disappointment. For a pizza-specific restaurant, I find it shocking that the chef cannot make a good marinara - the original Italian pizza!!!!
If you want a great pizza and drinks menu go to Salt Craft & Pizza just around the corner. They understand that a marina is different and is priced...
Read moreSodo Pizza located in the busy Deptford High Street in Greenwhich is a nice restaurant that serves sourdough pizzas and natural wines. We decided to dine al fresco and were taken to a walled spot with a lot of greenery, behind the main seating area. This place is lovely specially when it's bright and sunny outside. My friend had the La Cueva, which is a rustic and light red wine made with cherry and plum while I had the Sodo Ginger Ale. We followed this with a Burrata with Pickled Tomato and Basil Oil and The Wickerman Pizza which had Tomato, Mozzarella, Pepperoni, 'Nduja and Mascarpone topped with Chilli Honey. The food was exceptional and...
