On Saturday, 12th July 2025, I came to this Spice Hut on High Street South, E6 for lunch. I have dined and ordered food here on many occasions. A handful of staff recognise me as the customer who prefers to have green chilli in his food rather than having too much red chilli powder.
On this day, I ordered Tandoori Chicken starter, Patia Chicken and Special Fried Rice. I was dismayed to see that Spice Hut served a Tandoori Chicken that was not fresh and overcooked. This was unexpected after all the food I ordered from them in the past. I neither made a scene nor did I complain. I did not ask for free food. I paid for the food. I felt betrayed and that my custom was taken for granted.
I will not return to this Spice Hut. I recommend my fellow customers check their cooked food before consuming it. This is the only place I know that rewards it’s regular customer with poor quality food.
If you have a craving for this kind of cuisine, you may consider trying Samrat Restaurant on Barking Road, E13. Their food is slightly dearer. In return you will receive a bigger portion and fresh...

Read moreThis place does a disservice to the Spice Hut brand which is originally from Stepney Green. Let me list in order the terrible food
Chicken pieces - don't bother, I'm convinced it's chicken from the day before. So dry and tough, almost like jerky. I complained and the guy was like "oh is it?" then went on his merry way. Wings - Oily, I mean sure it's fried with oil but this is beyond oil. I'm guessing it's old oil being used given the horrible greasy taste. Chips -similar to the wings so oily probably due to old oil. Biryani - if you need to empty your bowls in the most horrific way then order a Biryani. God knows what they use but it's not anything decent or fresh.
I'd recommend take your money elsewhere as these guy don't really care about customer...
