First off, if you're looking for a nice salad, don't choose this restaurant!
The interior design is pretty weird, the cutlery cheap and the menus look very dated but this isn't a place for fine dining, or (as mentioned above) for eating salad, BUT if you want the best damn steak you'll ever have, THIS is the place for you!
My bf and I both had the peppered fillet steak and although it cost £21.90, it was simply served with fries (very good fries though), an amazing sauce and some dried leaves which were supposed to be a side salad.
Now I've said this twice already, don't get the salad, but I really mean it. I didn't even try mine as it looked dry and like it had been out all day.
HOWEVER! The steak was the BEST damn steak I've ever had in my life. It made all the other things (decor, cutlery, menus, "salad") not matter anymore. The meat melt in my mouth (it was THAT good) and I'll definitely go back there soon.
The waiters (an elderly man and woman which might be the owners?) were lovely and so friendly which made the experience even better.
So in conclusion, if you want something that's not "a slab of meat" you're probably better off going somewhere else, because this is clearly a restaurant that's great with meat but not so much with other things, BUT if you're a steak kind of person, try it, you...
Read moreI booked my Birthday meal at the stage Door as I had only been once before we tried last year but the were fully booked. The table was booked for 14 including a 3 year old granddaughter. All the food was hot and fantastic the service was spot on I could not fault it. Our table was down the middle of the Restaurant. I was very surprised when the owner rang me to check the details with me and also asked about the person who required Gluten Free he explained about the small kitchen and that his wife had replied to my email I said yes she did thank you. So to the Stage Door Staff Thank you all we all enjoyed our food. I did only eat half my steak but I just could not eat anymore so my son finished it. The big surprise of the evening was when they placed a piece of cake and ice cream in front of me and then lit a sparkling candle and the staff sang happy birthday. Again thank you to everyone at the stage...
Read morePopped in here with my daughter before seeing a show at the New Wimbledon Theatre which is directly opposite.
I booked it because it was close, and was expecting an average to decent, quick lunch - how wrong I was! This place is so, so much better than I could have expected.
The food quality was very very high: there aren’t many family run places in this part of London that cook a steak so well (or indeed who actually listen to how you want the steak to be cooked).
We also tried some of their more Greek/Cypriot starters - all were delicately cooked and the flavours were balanced very well indeed (paprika and oregano were obviously used, but not overpoweringly - real class from the kitchen).
It’s in Wimbledon, so it’s not dirt cheap but we thought it was excellent value.
It will be our automatic lunch or dinner venue next time we come to the NWT. Highly...
