I go to coffee shops quite often and this one is probably the worst. Coffee was served in a paper cup without asking if we were sitting in and there was no menu for the cold drinks such as milkshakes so I had to ask and remember the options. All seats were taken downstairs so despite having mobility issues, we went upstairs, knowing I would have time to recover before having to take the stairs back down. About 4pm (an hour before closing) and when we had been upstairs 15 mins max, an employee comes upstairs to tell us the upstairs is closing and we need to move downstairs, then starts putting chairs on to the tables. 5 mins later we were told the upstairs was closed and we couldn't be upstairs. When I queried why we weren't told the upstairs was closing at a certain time eg why didn't they have a sign up, I was told normally they have a sign up (not today), normally they close upstairs at 3pm (no idea of why that is relevant to me) and it's a health and safety risk for me to be upstairs as the chairs she's put up on other tables (not near us) might fall on us! She said she was just doing as she was told by the manager. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told she was busy. She did eventually bring the manager who was useless and clearly shouldn't be in the customer service business. Never before have I been asked to move part way through having a drink/food and when i've not been there very long, and had there been a sign up to say the upstairs was closing at a certain time, we would never have gone upstairs. Had the staff given a sincere apology at the outset and said they forgot to put up the sign to say the upstairs was closing, I would have accepted it. But instead they made up silly excuses/reasons as justification. Even after we came downstairs, there was still no closed sign up, just a "caution- wet floor" sign up near the bottom of the stairs.
Pastries/muffins were good/average. Poor selection of cold drinks on the menu/in fridge and no oat milk. Had to move cups from table and wipe table on arrival. Don't make the mistake we did by visiting this starbucks-...

Read moreThis starbucks is nothing special but it certainly doesn't deserve being given only 1 star reviews. I went in there on the day it opened a few weeks ago and the service was slow but the people were friendly and the food and drinks were ok.
There are a couple of areas of improvement, whenever they run out of anything they always forget to put the "sorry we are out of this for now" stickers on the board like other starbucks and also unless you order a filter coffee service is generally slow but I have never been served cold food or been rude to. One time I went in fairly early in the morning the staff member did show no emotion and lack of interest but while you're moaning about being up drinking coffee at that time of the morning remember these people aren't just up at this time of the morning they're up even earlier and ready to serve you at this time of the morning. Either way it's certainly a lot more organised than either of the other 2 local ones at the o2 and Greenwich cutty sark.
As I said before, nothing special but not worthy of 1 star reviews. It does have a nice upstairs area which due to the stairs is generally free of screaming kids compared to downstairs. This is very handy when popping there for a working break. Improvements needed but at this point the store is brand new so I'm sure improvements will be...
