Let me preface by saying I love Sticks’n’Sushi, I visit the Chelsea branch a lot but was happy to hear one would be opened more local to me. It was clear from the start that they were struggling with the capacity and service, as the queue (for reservations!!) had about 5 different groups waiting. We booked for 3 of us, and were extremely disappointed to be placed at the bar. This should be thought through a lot more by management - how do you expect 3 people to talk to each other properly while sat in a row?? A bar is okay for 2 people. Any more and it should automatically be a table. The place was packed (kudos for the great opening), but seemed overpacked which didn’t feel like it was allowing people to have enough space. Reminded me of the Covent Garden branch where you are also packed like sardines. The bar wasn’t even at the right height to watch the chefs at work, nor did it provide enough space for all the food we ordered. I sat in the middle and ended up holding my food while sat half a metre back so that the 3 of us could chat together. All the food arrived and tasted good, however my sushi did not arrive and we had already finished everything else, had to ask where it was and then it appeared 5 minutes later.
I’m a fan of Sticks’n’sushi, but service here has to improve. Reservations and tables have to be thought through better. If you can’t handle the capacity of the tables you’ve packed into the place, easy - reduce the...
Read moreWent to this restaurant with friends this afternoon. 4 adults and 4 kids. Be honest, this late lunch wasn’t a pleasant experience like we hoped for. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the location is great. The food quality is great not the best sushi we had before but certainly great in this neighbourhood where most sushi restaurants were fast sushi or tiny spaces. But the service of this restaurant is completely poorly. First we were 8 in total but only give us 4 chairs plus a sofa which fit 3 kids most. We have to ask for extra chair to fit all of us. Then as it is our first time dining in this restaurant so we were not familiar with their menu and took us quite a while to figure out what should we order and how many should we order. The waiter who served us were so impatient and suggested us to order FULL House in a kind of joking way but we all can clearly feel the rude attitude behind it. After we finished food, we would like to try some deserts but nobody came to our table so one of us had to walk to the counter to place the order then been told rudely that he should sit back and wait for their staff come to our table to take the order. Anyway, generally I felt very disappointed with their service. The kids set is very good and deserts were delicious. Other food is also pretty good. For price, we spent more than £220 without alcohol. Pity I forgot taking photos...
Read moreMy wife really likes this place, and brought me for lunch when we were both in the area. I’m not a big sushi fan, but she is, so I’ll add that in for he, and she’s one of those people that gets the omakase (whatever the chef chooses) at nice places and really knows her stuff. She considers this a high quality chain, and would pick it over other more widely known options. For me though, I usually love the non-sushi Japanese options, but I was a little disappointed here. I did like that the menu had pictures of everything. Also, they did have plenty of interesting sounding meats to choose from, and they came in the same kind of sushi sized portions so you can mix and match, which I really liked, I usually feel a little left out when she gets a bunch of interesting looking plates and I get a bowl of udon or a steak or something. But the meat as it came was underwhelming. It wasn’t bad, just a little unexciting and plain. I did enjoy the sesame wings, but everything else I had to add a bunch of salt or douse in soy sauce. Even the Wagyu beef, which I was particularly excited for. All in all, it was a nice restaurant, and if my wife wants to go back I will (maybe just get a salad and the chicken karage though). But if it were just me, or if you yourself aren’t a sushi person, I wouldn’t go...
