Recently had the pleasure of visiting Story Coffee in Wandsworth, and my experience was nothing short of fantastic. As a coffee aficionado, I must start by praising their espresso. Rating it at 4.5/5, it was a true masterpiece. The richness and smoothness of the espresso were unparalleled, devoid of any hint of bitterness or sourness. The baristas here clearly understand the art of coffee, and it showed in every sip. What impressed me even more was the impeccable temperature at which the espresso was served – perfect for immediate enjoyment. Moving on to the culinary delights, their scrambled eggs were a revelation. Cooked to perfection, they struck the ideal balance between being slightly runny and boasting an incredible, vibrant color. The addition of crème fraiche and chives elevated the dish to new heights, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that danced on my taste buds. But it wasn't just the eggs that left a lasting impression. The sourdough toast, a true testament to their dedication to quality, was a revelation. Slicing through the toast revealed a delightful softness on the inside, while the crust provided a satisfying crunch that paired beautifully with the other components of the meal. As someone who often struggles to find good sourdough toast, this was a delightful surprise that left me craving more. Story Coffee has certainly mastered the art of crafting an exceptional culinary experience. From their masterful espresso to the divine scrambled eggs and heavenly sourdough toast, each element of my meal was a celebration of taste and quality. If you're a coffee enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates impeccable flavors, a visit to Story Coffee is an absolute must. My taste buds are already eagerly anticipating my next visit!

Rip-off for coeliacs, and dirty seats for such a new venue. Why do restaurants continue to fit out their property with lightly coloured fabric that stains so easily? It just looks dirty and is not inviting or welcoming to people that actually care about the environment they’re in. I see this so often and it’s so illogical to me, and a waste of resources because surely it’s difficult for them to maintain such a non-durable choice in design. On the food side, choices are very limited if you have coeliac disease and are vegan like me. Alternative milks on offer are positive, with almond being offered in addition to oat. Whilst I understand that oat tastes best in coffee, it’s a no no for coeliacs who don’t have dairy. And we can all do with a bit less soya. They didn’t have any gluten free bread so I basically had to have smashed avocado with an egg on a plate, and pay the same price someone who could eat sourdough would pay. It’s an expensive life being a coeliac! The actual venue is nice and great to see some activity in this part of Wandsworth after years of development in the making. But it appears that STORY have possible gone into a unit that isn’t big enough for them, as they had a lot of stock on show and a big hoover right next to one of the tables. Not as big a deal to me as the dirty seats and lack of options for coeliacs though.

Yes coffee are good, full stop. Very little food but the muffin was OK. The staff is clearly only there to fill the space but not for trying to please customers or just making their own day brighter. I asked for an iced coffee, and their eyes almost went rolling to the back of their heads 🙄and asked with a sigh "which coffee...? ". Just not a pleasant welcome greeting, nothing. Then you see the sign on the cashier and each table "WE ARE A SCREEN FREE CAFÉ". Seriously?! Did you not see that everyone is on their mobile phone but that's OK!? Reading all other reviews it's clear that they don't want customers to stay too long, so no kids, no laptop, no tablet, soon they will write "no kindle" 😂. Get real "family owned café", respond to each comments with accepting that things can be improved, offering a solution and not putting the customers down at each review you read. Be honest and customers will spend more as they will like you more!

Worst managed coffee shop I've ever been to. Dogs not allowed in, laptops not allowed, breakfast area not open during the week, it's akin to a good communist regime. Overpriced coffee which isn't particularly good. Staff is mostly nice (tall cuban girl is always very nice)

Edit following the owners response:

Half witty, emotionally driven response, rather than a factual recollection of events. There was no 'staff abuse', amazing how you try to virtue signal and try to 'shame' someone for events that simply haven't happened. Check your cameras if you must. Next time when an 'incident' happens, rather standing in a circle whilst pointing at me, asking yourselves "was it him that wrote the review!?!?" whilst audibily debating almogst yourself on how to respond (great team effort btw)...why not face the issue as any business owner should and ask about what happened given you 'identified me' and ask me where the problem lays and attempt to resolve? Your behaviour is very telling.

You mention incident, the 'incident' is a barrage of idiotic rules which not only stop you from making revenue but more importantly, stop people who come in from sitting down and having food or coffee inside and discriminate against dog owners. Talk about virtue signaling....

Black sheep is where I always go, unfortunately my partner prefers Story so I suffer in silence...

To help you understand the 'communism' anology, communism where ever it was, was full of ridiculous sets of rules, similar to your mighty fine establishment and its rules...no dogs inside...get your own cutlery even thought there are 5 people working, don't bring a laptop, go sit outside in the rain and wait for a seat even thought there was an array of tables empty (although a few insiders were sitting there and eating as we got it)...shall we wash our plates after us too?

Oh and you forgot to note that there was hair...

DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE A CHILD AND STROLLER!

TOLD WHERE TO SIT IN ALMSOT EMPTY CAFE.

TOLD TO SIT IN THE CORNER SQUEEZED NEXT TO A PLANT, 2 OTHER WOMEN AND ANOTHER MOTHER AND BABY.

RUDE/INCOMPETENT STAFF NO COMMON SENCE OR DECENCY.

I attempted to buy a coffee and sit in at your Wandsworth branch. This was at approximately 11.20am on Tuesday 19th September.

The shop was very calm and sat down was a gentleman, two women and a mother and her child.

As I ordered my coffee I was asked "take away or sit in". I replied sit in. I was then told that due to my stroller (which happens to be one of the smallest on the market a YoYo) that I had to sit in the corner, where there was no space, as the table was already occupied by the two women and the mother and child were squeezed in behind on the stools up against the wall. There was clearly no room for me there, let alone me and my stroller.

Instead, I went to sit at the available table which had 6 free chairs. The same employee came up to me to stop me and told me I had to sit in the corner. I told him there was not enough room there, pointed it out and said I'll sit here and put my stroller to the side. He went to check with his colleague who simply said no.

I have dinner and brought coffe several times before from this branch, when I did not have my 5 month old son and was never told where to sit.

I found the staff extremely rude and discriminatory. I left immediately.

I feel this behaviour is unacceptable and the staff need to be spoken to so that no other mother or anyone else for that matter is told where to sit.

I would really appreciate a response to my complaint as I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with a cafe I used to recommend. I have already emailed but no response and messaged...
