An honest review from a Fed UP loyal customer. Not so sure about all the local "Guides" reviews, I've lived here for 20years.

I’ve been coming here at least once every 2months for over 12 years, since the time the place still had that awful rainbow explosion design. Its always had its quirky side, slightly odd but it worked because it’s not bad value for money. The menu got slightly better a few years ago with the addition of more interesting fried food for the buffet option and the sushi (limited options) are generous portions. And they updated the décor, still never washed the little curtains on your way to the bathroom for the last 6 years, but hey hoy(have a look out for them)

After so many years, The service is the bit that finally made me write this review today, it doesn’t exist. It’s not often one comes across staff that are so rude, impolite, condescending and literally hang over you to see if you share a grain of rice of your “all you can eat” with someone who just came for a small dish. You would think that years of customer loyalty afford some trust. There is this one skinny older waiter who is particularly rude, it really looks as if he doesn’t want to deal with people and really shouldn’t be in this customer service environment anymore, it’s bad for him and the business.

Then the service charge on a £20 meal plus a drink, will set you back around £4, for what, what service?? And cash? This day and age? Always seemed dodgy but since I’m going to write an honest review let’s throw that in there as well.

So after the lock down, we did our bit and supported local businesses-many places were so happy to welcome back their local loyal customers, but this lot? I think they spent the quarantine reminding themselves of how angry and how unhappy they are with Soho, our community, the customers and people in general.

We arrived 5min before opening, some of the staff were smoking outside, we knocked and the skinny waiter barked through her cigarette “is closed”. He then mouthed something in his own language to his colleagues, they all laughed.

Silence.....

They finished smoking, went inside, put a sign up to say they're open and we waited and waited for a good 10 min and attempted again.

Once inside, No “come in”, no “welcome” just the same rude horrible service.

I like the sushi but if you’re not into a bit of masochism, spend your money elsewhere.

It’s time for this place to either change its staff or shut its doors for good.

I will be sorry, but not...

Me and my friend were waiting in the que and the man/owner at the door decided the girls behind us had to sit first, after 20 mins of waiting outside for a table I see inside 2 customers paying and keep staying and the owner didn’t ask them kindly to go as the restaurant has literally 6 tables so we were waiting outside and people that alredy paid were still sitting. When we sit the men/owner give us the paper without explaining how it works their all you can eat formula and without asking if we want to drink something then he just forgot about us cause it took 10 minutes before coming to our table to take back the order, then I went to him asking for a tap water and more soya sauce and he said “you have the soya sauce on the table” yes I know so? if I ask is because I need extra I don’t see the big deal and he didn’t bring any water, now mind you the place is small and he wasn’t busy so he just forgot after 2 mins that I asked so I go to him asking again and he brings and fill 2 glasses (1 for me 1 for my friend) so I’m at an all you can eat and you think i’m ok with one glass? 1 ridiculous 2 if you wanna do it like this you have to keep coming at the tables to fill the empty ones (obviously they didn’t) otherwise leave the tap water at the tables. The “”salmon mayo roll” is a scam because is not really with mayo on top and is not salmon but tuna in the box. I don’t know for what reason they told me when i asked them it was salmon, probably they think everyone are stupid and can’t recognise the difference between salmon taste and shitty tuna taste. They try too fool you but unfortunately for them I know the difference between salmon and tuna taste. They didn’t have the sweet and sour sauce wich is absurd in a sushi restaurant. When we pay I obviously ask to the waitress to take away the service charge and the lady act rude, you should remember it’s not obligatory especially if the service provided is not even the basics. Then the waiter come to us for cleaning the table with us still sitting and in a rude way tell us to go like literally he said “we are closing so you have to go” that’s crazy 😂 From the man/owner to the waitress and the waiter the stuff is totally unprofessional in this place. Don’t...

Rude staff, ok food, terrible service. We went here last night, it was four of us. My friends were at the ATM, getting money cause they only take cash (dodgy). I thought I could go in and get the table, in the meantime. Welcomed in a very rude way, all the man could say was "until I see four people, you won't have the table, come back later". Wow, very good first impression. We eventually got the table, sat down and placed our order. We had to ask 4 times before getting tap water. One of the waiters was very kind and helped my brother choosing food according to his gluten allergy. Generally, you get the impression people don't enjoy working there, they all look very stressed and always in a rush, with little or nothing left to customer service. These people obviously have no idea what providing good service means, they just want your money, that's all. Food comes quickly and It is fairly good. Raw fish was nice and so was sushi (what people come for) Some hot disges were literally tasteless and bland, some portions (noodles) are enormous and that's a cheap tactic in order to discourage you from ordering more sushi (which is obviously more expansive for them). I really have no major issues with the fact food wasntwthew best: when you go in a Sushi restaurant and pay only 20 pounds for all you can eat, you can't expect anything mind blowing and that's ok. Towards the end, things got utterly ridiculous. We were thinking whether ordering more or leaving, cause we had quite a lot of food already. The man in charge started rushing us, coming to the table literally every minute, asking what we wanted to do. We told him '''we are just sitting here, eating , and if we need your help, we'll let you know". He got quite upset , took our menus and said he needed the table. What a poor way to do business. We were so upset we wanted to just leave without paying but of course we did pay and left, very angry. Absolutely not recommended. Coming out of a restaurant with anger is really the worst thing, here the food is irrelevant. Even if food was the best quality (it's not), the service they provide just ruins everything. Do yourself a favour and do not go in...

Quality matches the price! The female waitstaff have a poor attitude! If you're used to high-end Japanese cuisine and have a small appetite, you might want to skip this place! But if you have a big appetite, want to eat sushi to your heart's content, and aren't too picky about quality, then go for the salmon! Food:The sushi and salmon sashimi are decent, and the edamame and miso soup are a plus. However, the hot dishes are a letdown, and I wouldn't recommend ordering them. I ended up throwing away most of the hot dishes because they were just awful. The chicken had a particularly strong gamey taste, and the tempura batter seemed undercooked, making it sticky! Service:I've seen many complaints about the service, and I partly agree. This was my first time at a buffet, and I mistakenly pronounced it as "but~fet," so the waitstaff thought I was asking for the bathroom. As an overseas student with poor English, I often use English, so I think it's normal to be laughed at for mispronouncing words. Don’t be too sensitive about it! Later, I heard the staff speaking in Cantonese and Mandarin, so I switched to speaking Mandarin. It was a bit noisy, and when I spoke broken English, they couldn’t understand and I had to repeat myself several times. For those whose English isn't great, just communicate in Chinese. If the staff doesn't cooperate, feel free to give them a piece of your mind and then leave. After all, this is Chinatown, and they don't use English among themselves anyway! Heartwarming moment:When the staff was laughing at my mispronunciation, I looked at them awkwardly for a moment. A handsome guy speaking Cantonese or some other dialect noticed and stopped the discussion. The only foreign waiter there had a great attitude, very patient and detailed. Thumbs up! If anyone can afford it, give him a tip, haha. I'll carry £5 with me next time! Price: £26.2, same price for cash and card! Service charge is included! So don't hesitate to speak Chinese and boldly make requests!

It is with great disappointment that I must revise my previous 5-star review of this sushi restaurant. While the food remains enjoyable and the majority of the staff demonstrates polite and professional behavior, there is one recurring issue that has tarnished our dining experience. A middle-aged woman working here has consistently displayed rude, impatient, and dismissive behavior. This isn't an isolated incident—it has happened repeatedly over several visits, leaving us frustrated and disappointed. Initially, my wife and I loved this restaurant and considered it our favorite spot for sushi in London. The quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere created by most of the staff made it a cherished place for us. Sadly, the repeated poor customer service from this particular employee has overshadowed those positives. Her attitude creates an unpleasant and unwelcoming environment that undermines what should be an enjoyable dining experience. Despite the efforts of the other staff members, who are always polite and accommodating, the persistent behavior of this individual has led us to reconsider our patronage. It feels unfair to continue supporting a restaurant where customer service standards aren't upheld consistently across all team members. It's truly a shame, as this place has so much potential, but customer service is an essential part of the overall experience. After much deliberation, we’ve decided to look elsewhere for our sushi nights. We hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the restaurant has many good qualities that should not be diminished by one employee's attitude. For now, however, we can no longer recommend it as we once wholeheartedly did.
