Taj Mahal — Restaurant in London

We’re a little surprised this restaurant has such high ratings. We ate here with a group of our closest friends and from the beginning, it felt like we were not welcome in the restaurant.

There was no proactive nature in serving us —we had to ask for everything —a napkin, ice, utensils.

When we asked for water, they gave us bottled and ended up charging us for it. We ordered drinks and some of them never arrived.

When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre and cold.

If you’re going to focus on delivery and takeaway don’t let people sit in the restaurant. Every customer should be treated with kindness and respect. Just because you have a BYOB policy, doesn’t eliminate and justify terrible customer service. Be better....

Decent local Indian food, it's a nice place to dine in although does take away that's amongst the best in the area. Price and value for money are consistent for the area, in the mid-range. The staff are nice although the older ones tend to be distinctly old school (abrupt, somewhat curt) which occasionally verges on frustrating. Given its a small place, I've also found it a pity you often can't order or get your bill quickly (even if they're not attending to others). Would definitely recommend it if you're local, but it's not a place for those passing...

We have lived in Putney for 10 yrs and have tried a huge number of Indian takeaways in Putney / Wandsworth / Fulham / East Sheen. This is definitely our favourite and you can taste the Indian spices in the food. The staff are extremely pleasant and the chicken is decent quality (which a lot of other restaurants have foregone to go down the cheap water based reconstituted route).
