Tamasha Indian Restaurant in Bromley has garnered a fair share of attention over the years, so naturally, it seemed like a good spot to catch up with an old school friend. Upon arrival, it’s clear that Tamasha isn’t just a restaurant—it also functions as a hotel, which adds a unique layer to its appeal. First Impressions and Ambience The entrance is welcoming, with a notable number of staff present to greet diners. While this could come across as warm hospitality, the sheer volume of staff can feel a bit excessive and almost intimidating. The bar, located on the left upon entering, is cosy, albeit slightly cramped. Its intimate feel works well for a pre-dinner drink but might not accommodate larger groups comfortably. The restaurant’s decor is undeniably striking. It leans heavily into the fine-dining aesthetic, with opulent touches that give a sense of grandeur. However, it’s worth noting that some patrons might find themselves more enamored with the decor than the actual dining experience. Service The service is both a highlight and a potential drawback. While the staff are attentive and clearly well-trained, there’s a fine line between attentive and intrusive. Unfortunately, the constant interruptions throughout the meal felt overbearing, leaving us with the sensation of being watched rather than relaxed. This level of vigilance might appeal to some, but for others, it can detract from the experience, especially during a casual catch-up with a friend. The all-male staff was another noticeable aspect. While this might simply be the norm for the establishment, a more diverse team could potentially make the atmosphere feel more balanced and inclusive. Food As for the food, it was solid but not spectacular. Dishes were well-presented and adequately prepared, but nothing stood out as particularly memorable. It felt like the focus might be more on the experience of dining at Tamasha rather than the flavors on the plate. For those seeking a truly extraordinary Indian culinary experience, this may not quite hit the mark. However, it’s perfectly fine for those who enjoy a standard, reliable meal. Overall Value Tamasha positions itself as a fine-dining destination, but it’s important to remember that this is Bromley, not the West End. While the restaurant delivers on ambiance and service (perhaps too much of the latter), the food doesn’t quite match the lofty expectations set by the decor. This disparity might explain why many patrons are drawn to the overall experience rather than the culinary aspect alone. Who is it For? Tamasha is a good choice for locals who enjoy a more upscale atmosphere and don’t mind the over-attentive service. It’s also suitable for those looking to impress guests with a fine-dining setting. However, if you’re seeking a more relaxed environment or food that stands out as the star of the show, you might want to look elsewhere. Final Thoughts Tamasha Indian Restaurant offers an experience that is polished yet somewhat over-engineered. While the food is acceptable and the decor impressive, the overly attentive service and lack of standout dishes might leave some diners feeling underwhelmed. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and curious, but it might not become a go-to for Indian cuisine enthusiasts.

After reading some of the reviews I was dubious about staying here, however my stay was actually ok. We were greeted by a very nice chap upon arrival, who took our details and gave our keys. The rooms were on the top floor, 4 flights of stairs so no good for disabled or anyone who struggles with stairs. My room was a double which was very clean and fairly well presented. It was a tad on the small side but big enough for what you need. My only criticism regarding the room was the mattress, very firm, too firm for me! Also because it was on the front, you could hear the passing traffic when the windows were open, there is a fan provided though. En-suite was very clean, just a bit of flaking paint on the windowsill. Breakfast however wasn't the best, cornflakes, 2 apples & a banana, and 2 slices of toast with tea and juice. The service was very good during breakfast, waiter very attentive and even carried my bags out to the car. If they improved the breakfast I would recommend this hotel, free parking, good location & clean and friendly.

I’ve recently booked a room for one night I’ve arrived after 4 hrs drive from the south west I arrived 30mins before checking in time and the staff were rude. They told me my room was not ready. I then waited another 40 mins to then be able to check in, my room was a nice size but very dirty bathroom toilet was not clean the bin in toilet was not emptied after inspection turned out there was dead bugs around the window. The bed it self was not completely clean dirty sheets on one bed and the other single was clean, in the evening at 10 pm when I returned they had some sort of party on the first floor the music was so loud you could not get any rest whatsoever loud noises till early 3am this was really not ok. Considering I had to be up early to drive bk south staff spoke broken English very un polite and for 120.00 a night it was definitely not worth the headache I had. Will definitely never go there again

Upon arrival, it’s clear that Tamasha isn’t just a restaurant—it also functions as a hotel, which adds a unique layer to its appeal.

First Impressions and Ambience

The entrance is welcoming, with a notable number of staff present to greet diners. We booked a table via the website which gave the options of giving an email address and / or phone number. We gave an email address. No confirmation was sent and when we phoned up a few days later they grumbled that we hadn't provided a phone number. We were taken to our table immediately on arrival which was great. We ordered poppadoms (£1.50 each poppadom!!) and these were brought promptly. While we were eating these a waiter came and asked us to move to a different table. We didn't feel we had much choice so we were moved to a table in the corner so that they could fit a noisy group of five in next to us. As they were moving our plates to the new table, my friend's plate was taken away with some of her poppadom on it, and not returned. I half-joked that they should give us a discount for the inconvenience of changing table (it was really disruptive to our conversation and comfort), but none was offered and the bill for 4 of us came to over £175 for 2 courses (inc. one bottle of wine). The food was generally delicious, and the main course was brought out promptly. Only a couple of issues - naan bread slightly overdone, and gulab jamun came a long time after the other desserts and had likely been microwaved (boiling hot in places and not in others). The desserts took an age to arrive, and arrived separately over the course of 10 min. We had to ask for the bill twice. The card machine was dropped onto the table with a large clunk, giving us quite a scare and, as the flustered waiter went off to get a new one, he dropped the merchant copy of my receipt, with my full credit card details printed on it, onto the floor. When he returned and I pointed this out, no apology was forthcoming. The music was a bit loud, and almost deafening in the loos for some reason, but otherwise the atmosphere was great. I can appreciate that this might come across as a negative review, but in general the restaurant worked hard to provide delicious food and a good atmosphere. The issues at the end were possibly because the restaurant was really busy and perhaps the waiters were tired. I think having to move table was the worst thing, and they could have offered us something to recompense for that, but I also see how it was important for them to fit as many guests in as possible, and we didn't make a...

ADVISE DO NOT STAY HERE ( TAMASHA HOTEL BROMLEY BR1 3AX).|DIRTY DISCUSTING ROOMS, RUDE STAFF AND UNSAFE.|I tried calling to discuss with the manager and after two day I got to speak to him. By this time the room had been cancelled and I was unable to leave any review.|My Daughter 24 yrs had initially booked into the TAMASHA HOTEL, 131 Widmore Road Bromley BR1 3AX for 2 nights ( (9th April to 11th April 2024 )expecting to arrive at 7pm. She arrived early and the man on the counter / front desk was rude complaining she was early. Not a good start. She had a photo of her Drivers licence taken which concerned me as it was taken on his personal phone. Hotel Policy ??? I hope this will be destroyed by the hotel and not get into the wrong hands. |She was given her room key and attended the room which the door didn't seem to close properly and not lock. The lock appeared to be on the floor in a box. There were clear stains on the walls and carpets, human hair present in the room and products still in the bin ( Moisturiser) . white powder on the surfaces and worst of all Rentokill products in the room. She took pictures and a video of the room which I have. She was travelling alone and became very freighted and felt unsafe and left the key and didn't stay. She spent the next hour crying and was very distraught, which for me was really upsetting as I spoke with her on the phone and tried to calm her down. |I contacted the hotel on 9th April 2024 and spoke to a very rude and aggressive person trying to explain. I am really angry that she wasn't safe in the hotel. The person I spoke to gave no explanation and was rude. The photos on the hotels website do not show the true standard of this hotel. I had to book my daughter into another hotel which has cost me and I hoped the hotel would not be taking the payment for £150. Having eventually spoken to the manager on 11th April 2024 he refused to waive the £150 and said No Show you must pay. Just said I was lying. I called the hotel twice on 10th April 2024 to be told he was not available. I spoke with him on 11th April 1230pm.|BEWARE They take a copy of your ID on personal Phones|BEWARE Disgusting room and rude staff.|Reported to...
