This is a great little pub, busy and vibrant. Went along on Saturday evening for a 2 hour slot to dine and drink outside. They have done a great job, the outside lights are fab and the social distancing is well considered. It was a chilly evening and our table was not under a covered section, thank goodness the rain held off. There are several heaters dotted around but IMO it’s not nearly enough to stave off the chill. I think you should recommend people consider this and bring a blanket if they feel the cold? Also a table under the cover and benefiting from heating became free, we enquired if we could move, only to be told an elderly party had booked it, fair point... however when the party arrived they didn’t want to sit under the cover and chose a bench outside. We again asked if we could move to the now empty table, only to be told another party has it.. 1. How were the original party able to move, but we weren’t and 2. Why weren’t we able to have the vacant table with the new party taking our table? Maybe I’m wrong, but it just seemed a bit ‘clicky’ in there? Anyway, Our drinks arrived promptly and they took our food order on their iPad system. The waitress returned to say my order had run out, so I picked something else, not a problem. 45 mins later and the food had not arrived, so we enquired to be told the ticket had fallen off the counter, and would be with us in 7 minutes. It was taken electronically on the iPad. Anyway the food order arrived and ironically I ended up getting my original choice (which I’m not complaining about) and it was hot and tasty.. we’d ordered another round of drinks, which had to be reminded as they never materialised either... on the whole it was ok. I guess it’s only been back ‘socially’ open for a couple of weeks and they will be learning systems and fine tuning service, which I’m willing to forgive. covid has been devastating for hospitality, this is a lovely pub and has a good atmosphere, just need to consider all your customers...
Read moreThe Manager of this pub is very rude and aggressive. I had a booking for 14/12/2024 and the Manager, Martin Lloyd, sent me a very rude e-mail insisting that I contact the pub. He lied in that e-mail and said that he'd sent me some e-mails to chase my booking - I never received these e-mails so basically those e-mails don't exist. The pub was very disorganised regarding my booking, including their failure to take my mobile number down or take my deposit - even when I willingly offered to pay the deposit straightaway. Martin refused to take any responsibility for this complete fiasco and as soon as I politely asked him to prove that he'd sent me the e-mails he cancelled our booking, even though at that point I'd said that we wanted to come in for lunch on 14/12/2024. I suspect that he cancelled our booking because he wanted to accommodate a bigger group. His customer service skills are absolutely appalling. He rather rudely said that we could still come in on 14/12/2024, using a very rude and aggressive and dismissive tone, but I politely declined and I told him that I don't want to come in now because of...
