If you’re walking past Taparee in Central London, you might just overlook it—and that’s exactly why it feels like the city’s best-kept secret. While a small part of me wants to gate keep this gem forever, the food and the people running it deserve all the love and attention. Taparee isn't just a restaurant; it’s an absolute must-visit destination for anyone serious about Nepalese cuisine. The true star of the show here is, without a doubt, the momos. These dumplings are absolutely delicious and, frankly, stand head and shoulders above the competition. They are one of the only places in London genuinely doing them as authentically as possible. The delicate casings, the perfectly seasoned filling, and the incredible accompanying sauce prove that these momos are made with passion and true culinary heritage. Beyond the flavor, the value proposition at Taparee is almost a joke—in the best way possible. For Central London standards, the prices are incredibly economical, and the portions are huge! You get so much high-quality food for what you pay that you'll leave feeling entirely satisfied without emptying your wallet. The entire experience is elevated by the incredible staff. They are super kind, attentive, and consistently go out of their way for every single customer. From offering helpful menu suggestions to ensuring you have everything you need, the service here is warm and genuine. They are always happy to help, making you feel instantly welcome and cared for. Taparee is a diamond in the rough that truly deserves to be celebrated. If you're craving authentic Nepalese food and the kind of service that makes you feel like family, make the trip. Just maybe don't tell everyone you...
Read moreWe were in London to celebrate one of our friend’s birthday. We wanted to eat some Nepalese food and stumbled across this restaurant on Google. We decided to give this restaurant a shot - it didn’t disappoint! The service was immaculate! The dai was super nice and accommodating; he didn’t hesitate to help us & answer any questions we had. He also gave us chatpate and paratha on the house and we were really grateful for that! I told Dai we came for one of our friend’s birthday and he kindly prepared a cake as a surprise. This was the sweetest gesture ever! Dai’s hospitality is great!
As a Nepali, I’ve visited numerous Nepalese restaurants (Aldershot, Ashford, Plumstead, etc) and I have to say, Taparee is definitely in the top 5! It exceeded my expectations. The chatpate and chicken biryani was the highlight for me - the flavours, the spices…it was so so good. The mango lassi was the best lassi I’ve had!
Taparee 10/10 recommend! You have to...
Read moreI was lucky enough to come here during the day on a Monday. I was the only person in and I must highlight a few points: I ordered 2 samosas, 1 of which was completely hard and burnt on the inside. I was given a new one for free. They were fantastic I asked how the 2 flavors of beer differ in taste. Served couldn’t really answer service was slooow. Could be because I was the only one there. 1.5 hours spent there. Most of the time waiting for my food or check
Eventually it seems the manager came to butter me up and even offered free tea at the end of my meal.
Despite the service that did not meet my expectations, the food is amazing. I have never had such tender, creamy, delicious chicken. Samosa was small but great. Mango lassi great. Cobra beer, does the job.
Expect the food to be better than the service. You will not be...
