Read moreFairly disappointed in this place.
The beef salad was not even authentic or decent beef salad. They had taken glazed beef from another item in their menu - the sizzler, and they concocted the beef salad. Thai beef salad has papaya!! And there was no papaya in the salad. At all..... And certainly beef salad isnt meant to be glazed with sweet sour sauce. It is meant to be marinated in fish sauce. This was not it. It was very shy of ingredients in the salad. Just mainly lettuce and cherry toms again, which is very unusual.
The beef sizzler was recommended to us by the waiter and that is when we realised that's where the beef salad came from. The sizzler had no decent vegetables that you would expect or hope to find in a Thai dish such as fine beans or peppers etc. This was mainly onions - yet the menu said with vegetables. The meat was chewy and overcooked and had sinew which made it difficult to take apart.
We wanted a hot spicy dish and the beef sizzler was not even spicy.. it was very mild to say the least. They said people need plenty water when eating this. But neither of us felt it described what we ordered. And we didn't need any water whatsoever. The dish was glazed beef on a sizzler with some gravy, but the beef was cooked in a pot and served on the sizzler which wasnt even hot or sizzling or smoking - like you expect from a mix grill.
They used alot of short cuts.
We ordered a noodle dish and again, this dish lacked vegetable. Just strands of carrot but no beans or bean sprout or peppers or mushrooms. Just minimal 1 veg theme more of less throughout. We've eaten in many thai places such as Thai Royale, Thai thai and Nakhon Thai and Yum Yum, all of which are great choices.
This place is unfortunately not.
If you KNOW thai food, this place isnt it. Sorry.
However the people were very nice, but the bill did not reflect the portion size or the quality and taste of the food, the decor was confused like a Mexican looking place, and the music did not resonate thailand, it was a mixture of Arabic and many other things.
The thai fish cakes were decent. The prawn tempura was not crispy or piping. Just looked reheated. The chilli oil was very unusual. Tasted a little like rose water and chilli oil. The parcels in the starters were inedible. I would not call it food whatever they put in the filling and their starters, the pastry I.e wantons and spring rolls were on the near burnt side.
Will not be...
Read moreDisgusting. Apart from the 3 star, the other reviews have to be bogus. Just don't go. The 'restaurant' has the front of a late night kebab shop and all the ambience. The spring rolls were deep fried straight from a packet, the plum sauce from a bottle. Our mains were horrible. My Thai Red Curry tasted nothing like it should. Nothing in there even suggested a taste of the east and the chicken was pre-cooked, chopped up and bunged in. My partner's meal was no better. And we were informed that the 'chef' had run out of noodles - it was 7pm on a saturday night! One customer walked out because her food had taken too long to serve - we arrived afer her and were served before! The place, no dump, is unlicensed so you have to watch the waiter making your smoothie with a huge bottle of milk and wotnot and here's the rub - IT IS EXPENSIVE. For all that rubbish we were charged over £36.00. On the way out I peered into the kitchen - the middle eastern waiters were cooking the food - there were no far eastern people to be seen anywhere. Horrid...
