Disgusting and vile experience - sadly the most negative (and longest review) I'll probably ever write! After ordering drinks and sitting at our table with my wife and toddler, the short stocky, Eastern European, doorman abruptly walked over to us and told us to leave immediately. Apparently children were not allowed in the pub - despite another doorman telling us we were welcome until 7pm. As we got up the lady at the bar came over to inform us that the card payment hadn't gone through anyway. At hearing this, the horrible little doorman walked over with the card machine and insisted we had to pay for our drinks, even though we had barley began to drink them! Upon refusing to pay, and pointing out our unfinished drinks sitting on the table, the horrible little doorman, then blocked the door and refused to let us leave (even though he had asked us to leave). He closed the pub door while we were discussing this and held it shut, making a scene because he was blocking access of other punters who were trying to get in and out. It was only after the other doorman saw this and suggested that my wife and child be allowed to leave, while I waited to speak to the manager. To add insult to injury the short doorman then closed the door after my wife and child exited and asked his colleague to 'keep an eye on him (me), and don't let him (me) leave'. The doorman then kept insisting that I had to pay. All of this by the way over a £4.50 bill. After phoning the manager, who was upstairs, the vile doorman allowed me to leave and said that I was lucky and this was a one off!!! Thanks but I certainly wont be back.
Its a real shame as the pub had recently had a refit, and I had previously been here few times - the rest of the staff were genuinely lovely. Sadly a doorman like that belongs on the door at a 'dive bar', not a local pub. As we left, the other doorman (a tall black man), walked over to us and gave a warm and genuine apology for his the way the incident was handled.
I'll be avoiding this place and going to the other 'more friendly' local pubs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this pub. Been coming here on and off for the last three years. I know craft union from the north west area. Decent pubs at low prices. The only problem is trying to get served. If your not a regular your ignored to the point of getting served last even though you are first. If the bar staff would look up instead of being involved with the regulars they might put people in order of who was next. Just to say it's all the staff not just one. So maybe a little training on customer service. I have been in the bell every night for the last two weeks and can say it is the same every night. I will be in for the next two weeks and will monitor and report this again if things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat, historic pub right bang in the middle of Hounslow. Not for the biggots, affordable to all which is great to see in the centre of town. Super friendly, attentive and accommodating staff. Not 'trendy', entirely in the spirit of a community hub. Hard to review a place truly in Covid times; if they do food they don't now but I didn't feel like I wanted to venture further despite being a prolific experimenter. Would love to come back when normality returns. Bravo to these folk, they do well. There's even a performance area out the front paid by the council I guess which should really add...
