šŸš‡Ā London Bridge šŸŗĀ Ā£6.00 UnBarred Helles Lager The Blue Maid is located on Borough High Street, just south of London Bridge. The nearest Tube is London Bridge, Borough Tube is also close by. Formerly The Blue Eyed Maid, this pub has a history dating back to the 1500’s. The name of the pub has been changed back to the pub’s original name, The Blue Maid. The alleyway the pub is situated on, off Borough High Street, now Chapel Court, was first called Blue Maid Alley. This is good size one bar pub that has had an elegant traditional refurbishment. As you enter, the servery is located on the right with an easy to navigate tap list on the back bar. To the right of the servery is a seating area with a huge etched mirror adorning the wall. As you head further back, there is a narrow section which leads to a raised intimate snug at the back. In the alleyway to the side of the pub are a number of benches for imbibing alfresco. The beer selection is excellent and offers a varied selection of brews from independent London breweries and a range from further afield. After some great advice from the friendly barman, I decided on a UnBarred Helles Lager, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. I was kindly invited along to a sneak peak on Friday to check out the rebirth of the pub. The was a fantastic buzz around the pub with many nods of approval to the hard work that has bern done to getting the doors open again. I must mention the service, the team on duty were brilliant, they were friendly, chatty, upbeat and were happy chatting to punters in between pouring pints. It’s such great news that this independent historic London pub has opened its doors again. I love the location, the stunning building, the understated and elegant decor, the personable service and the great choice of beers. The @bluemaidldn opens its doors on Monday 7th April, why not come and show them some love. šŸ“… 4th April 2025 More London Pub info @londonpubmap šŸ»

This pub was know as the Blue Eyed Maid, but closed permanently a couple of years ago. It has now had a major refurbishment and reopened with the slightly changed name. The new name doesn't make sense, but I suspect that the new owners are trying to avoid association with the Blue Eyed Maid, which had recently transitioned into a karaoke pub and had some unfortunate incidents. The new pub is a lot nicer, but of course, the drinks are a lot more expensive (basically, the price you pay in most other pubs in the area).

Dropped in on opening night for a couple. Lovely selection of beers (some local brews and some interesting kegs from further afield), super friendly and welcoming staff. It's a lot brighter and less sticky than in a previous life, but still have some excellent value pints (two lovely well kept and poured pints for a tenner is not to be sniffed at!) Will be popping back to see how it develops as was told they will be adding to/ adapting the space once they see how people use the space, lovely touch.

What a disappointment this place turned out to be, all thanks to the 2 members of staff working there on Monday evening around 6pm

I was meeting a friend who was already there so went to the bar to get a beer. There was a guy serving a customer, and a girl washing glasses I think. A couple walked up to the bar after me, and she promptly served them without asking who was first. I just waited for the guy to finish serving his customer, but instead of asking me what I wanted, he turned his back to me and started having a chat with his colleague. I asked whether I could get served then pointed out that his colleague had ignored me, I was told that she was already serving someone. She wasn’t and when I made this point, she pipped up to tell me ā€˜I don’t have eyes behind the back of my head’. Just the kind to welcoming attitude I love in a pub.

I then asked the guy for a recommendation for a nice pale ale, specifying that I don’t like fruity ones. He just looked at my blankly and clearly either didn’t want to help or wasn’t able to.. all I got as I was trying to make a decision is him commenting that he could make me wait some more if I didn’t know what I wanted.

I made a choice (not to may taste sadly). We had our one drink and went to the King’s Arns just around the corner where we spend the rest of the evening. It was a real shame as if these two staff menebers had shown any hint of customer service, wend have happily spent our money there. No surprise the place was pretty quiet, even for a...

Fantastic to see a new independent pub open during these turbulent times. I visited on their first official day of trading and was pleasantly surprised to see a number of patrons enjoying the pub. The interior is modern and clean . The lack of branding along the bar makes for a very clean aesthetic and the menu is pretty much identical to those found in Graceland establishments. The large window at the front lets in a lot of natural light making the space feel airy and welcoming. The original tile work at the entrance is a nice nod to the pubs past. The cask beer I tried was in acceptable condition although sadly the taste of a new beer line was apparent and marred the overall experience, an issue that will improve with time. A very welcome addition to the area and there is a bonus of outside seating as well. Pay them a visit you won't be...
