My partner booked a table for lunch and we were promptly seated at the corner table, with views of Westfield in front of us and the old BBC Television Centre behind us. We were presented a very concise food menu, with some pub classic dishes. Drinks were competitively priced, with a Gin Collins for £9 and a non alcoholic Classic Mule for £8.50. For food, I went for a Fish and Chips and my partner ordered a Steak, medium rare with Truffle and Parmesan Chips.
When the food came, my partner noticed that there were no grated parmesan on his chips nor it smelled of truffle. He then cut into his steak to find it cooked medium; not medium rare as he instructed. We brought this to the attention of the staff (Yuliya) looking after our table and she immediately called the manager to deal with our concern. The manager (Noelia) immediately apologised and offer to send my partner's food back to the kitchen. He declined as I was already halfway through my fish and chips and said he was happy to finish his meal and just wanted to make them aware that the kitchen got his order wrong.
The steak itself was tasty and the red wine jus complemented it very well. My fish and chips were exactly as I liked; tartare sauce seemed like it was made fresh and not from a sauce jar. The mushy peas that came with it was refreshing to the palate as you could actually taste the mint and the fish fillet with breadcrumbs were seasoned well and had a great crunch:bite ratio.
For desert, we ordered the Baked Cheesecake that came with fresh strawberries and the Chocolate & Peanut Butter fondant came with fresh vanilla ice cream which tasted lovely too.
The team were apologetic for not bringing my partner's food as he ordered, and as compensation, they took off his meal from the bill which we were happy about.
Overall, the experience would've been great and I would've awarded 5* for everything if my partner's food order was as he liked. We will definitely visit again as the location and views were wonderful.
Update: I have yet to hear back from the venue since their reply from July. No...
Read moreI have been coming here for months and whilst the bar staff and those whom take orders have great interpersonal skills I unfortunately had the displeasure of dealing with a bouncer who seemed to prefer to project aggression onto me and seemingly label me as a troublemaker for simply responding to him when he reminded myself and my friends to leave.
When he said it's time to go now boys, my response was "no worries, we are just picking up our stuff from the table" to which perhaps he didn't hear me and said "what did you say?" To which I repeated my verbalisation and he begun reprimanding me for he has been polite in giving us 20 and 10 minute warnings of closing (for starters I'm sure that's part of a bouncers job and not just that he's an objectively polite bouncer who does that).
When I then said, we are just getting our stuff and we are leaving, pointing toy two friends packing their things (now having paused to see what the arguing was about) the bouncer told me; "if like now you did less talking and more walking" we wouldn't need to have an argument. You need to stop arguing with me and leave.
Now I would like to ask the Broadcaster to just place here what the definition of argument is, because I'm confident confirming to someone that you agree with them and just informing them of your brief circumstance of packing a back is not arguing.
I could go on and on with the next 5 minutes of to and fro rebuttal, because at this point I was rather upset but I would just be labouring the same point.
If you go here leave before they close because they have a particular bouncer who will definitely project his own frustrations onto you and leave you feeling upset and wrong for simply enjoying yourself and 1 beer and getting carried away in a conversation that you are then made to feel exceptionally bad and abhorrently wrong for doing.
If I see this bouncer on my next visit I definitely shall be spending my money...
