Very disappointed with this place!! Firstly, I picked this place on the basis of the highly esteemed previous reviews and have come to the conclusion my fellow punters either had their taste buds removed or they were bribed. It took over 30 minutes to deliver our starters and then quickly after our mains followed. The only enjoyable things from my chicken roast was the Yorkshire pud and the cabbage. The gravy it came swimming in was stone cold, the purée was tasteless baby food that served no point to the meal and my chicken was over cooked and starved of seasoning. Let’s get into the sides, the ox cheek croquettes have been marketed wrong and should be rebranded potato croquettes because that’s all I could really taste in flavour and texture (seasoning desperately needed). The triple cooked chips were bland and felt like it was neglected before it even touched the fryer. The biggest disappointment was the Mac and cheese which appears to have raving reviews…I was flabbergasted how something could be cheesy in consistency and have ZERO flavour of anything?? This officially is the worst food I’ve had in London ever.

The fish and chips were just ok. The breading was thick and mushy on the inside. The rooftop terrace was lovely.

The Castle, 8.9/10 Yuge roof terrace here. Yuuuuuge. We were there late but if you want somewhere in the sun in Angel, look no further. Largest roof terrace we've seen so far at NLP. Great vibes all around us. Camden hells? Check. Cuttla glasses of vino? Check. Smashed? Check. Don't remember a great deal from here if we're honest. End of a long session. Remember bolting out the door in a hurry for some reason though. We were chased by the bouncer and ran past a small kid and his dad. The son said, "Why are they running dad? They did nothing wrong!" To which the dad replied, "Because they're the heroes North London deserves, but not the ones it needs right now. So we'll follow them on insta. Because they want us to. Because they're not our heroes. They're our silent guardians. They're our watchful protectors. They're North London Pints." "Actually it's probably because they chundered down the pub stairs as they left. Desgustang." Reviewed 12/05/21 on @northlondonpints Instagram.

1/5 stars. We had a party of 8 attend the Castle for our friend’s birthday. We were shocked by the lack of professionalism, general manners and overall experience. Many incidents occurred; firstly, we were having to go downstairs after we had been seated in order to order drinks as the waiter was nowhere to be seen. The Bloody Mary’s had been made with a blender so it essentially was a tomato juice smoothie. We ordered bread and olives and waited for an hour for them. We were told multiple times that they were ‘just on the way’. Which in fact was a plain faced lie. Our food eventually arrives- with Yorkshire puddings on the gluten free roasts, meaning after 2 and a half hours of waiting for food, 2 people in our party had nothing to eat whilst everyone else had food. They returned their plates which had been heated up and was thus dry. I had my fish and chips and asked for ketchup and after chasing for the ketchup was told that they had run out. Yes, you read that right. In a pub and a restaurant, there was no ketchup on the premises. I left to go to the nearest tescos to spend £4.50 on some ketchup for the table. All the glasses we were served in were filthy. The manager was a rude , obnoxious and arrogant woman whose tactics to intimidate us with her passive aggressiveness not only highlighted her unprofessionalism but also her lack of any social awareness that this was an uncomfortable situation for us all. After requesting to remove the service and explaining all of the issues with the food, the entitled manager removed probably 15% off the bill. I asked for my fish and chips to be removed as I had spent £4.50 on ketchup to which she obliged. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - avoid...

I went to the castle for two of my friends birthdays and had a terrible experience. The service was appalling and the staff were incredibly rude. After being ignored for an hour we managed to order food but our starters, which were bread and olives, took well over an hour to come. The staff continually said they were about to bring our food up when it was nowhere in sight and we had to chase multiple times. Our mains arrived over 2 hours after ordered. In our group we had a few allergies including anaphylaxis and celiacs and were told this was the cause of the delay due to to kitchen needing to prepare but when our mains finally arrived the celiacs were served roasts which had gluten additions and had to be taken back to the kitchen, reheated and replaced causing further delay. The manager was incredibly rude and laughed at us when we complained politely about this. When we pointed this out no apologies were made and another delay incurred. A few of our party asked for ketchup and we were informed there was no ketchup at all so we had to go to the shop ourselves and buy some. All of the glasses we were given were dirty with bits of food on them and when we asked if we could have another glass we were brought more dirty ones. The manager was unfriendly and rude when we explained it was a birthday and we felt let down by the multiple issues we had and did not apologise once despite the fact some of the mistakes could have led to serious allergic reactions, but instead laughed at us. We felt belittled and upset - do not eat here at any cost. If I could leave 0...

Avoid at all cost!!!

Would give minus stars if it were possible. Had a reservation for Sat 30th. Upon arrival got shouted at with : "What's wrong with you people today". Despite reservation outside got told that no table was available. There were at least 3 visibly empty tables. At first got told they were all booked by someone else. Upon insisting eventually got a table which had stains of mayonasie, etc and a pile of some disgusting stuff on the seats. Got told that they will not clean it as they were full and the expectation was not to get good service. Eventually upon insisting to get proper service they told me to leave or get served spit. Never seen anything like this in my life. Avoid at all cost!!!

Reply to the shameless reply of the "owner"

The mere fact that the reply to this review is a completely fictional and rather surreal story intended to justify my original depiction of events should tell everyone what the expectation is in this establishment: no customer service, no desire to improve, no accountability for the staff actions.

In this day and age, and especially after the events of the last 2 years and the position hospitality was in, this attitude is completely unacceptable. I am glad that we left, as we found a much cleaner place with sufficient, extremely friendly staff who were acrully glad to have us as customers.

Anyone who ever worked in hospitality could tell you that your approach only goes one...
