Tortilla Islington — Restaurant in London

Last week we came 8:10pm to this Tortilla and wanted to order Quesadilla. The staff member (blonde) said that we can’t order it anymore as they turned off the heater/stove at 8pm (even though they work until 10pm). My boyfriend kindly asked if they could make it and eventually after a long time trying to convince us not to buy it, she said okay. Later we saw other staff member who made quesadilla looking at us in judgmental look and talking something harshly. She was very angry that we ordered quesadilla in THEIR WORKING TIME. It’s like we had to know that they turn off the stove 2 hours before closing and feel guilty that we ordered it. Also, we came just 10mins after they turned it off. I give only one star as service is very important to me and I would never act this way. Especially, later we talked with our friend who worked in Tortilla and he said that even if they turn off the heater they turn it on when sm orders smth without telling people that it was already turned off. Because it’s like hi you came to have food but you can’t have it although we still open and you also have to sit and feel guilty about what you ordered lol Girls if you don’t like your job, don’t do...

Rude manager or acting manager.

While I wasn’t treated unkindly myself, I was shocked by how the woman, who I believe was a manager, spoke to one of the staff members. There was an Asian employee who appeared to be in training, and the way she addressed him was condescending, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude.

It was genuinely uncomfortable to witness. This worker was clearly trying his best, yet she treated him as though he were incompetent, and she did so in front of customers. Mistakes happen, especially when someone is learning, and there’s simply no excuse for belittling a team member like that.

I truly commend the staff member for handling being barked at in public with such composure. Watching this interaction made it painfully clear how one person’s behavior can create a toxic work environment. I sincerely hope the management style here changes, because what I saw was unpleasant and unacceptable.

worst branch ever. i usually come here as i live close, however every time i come here it gets worse. tonight i ordered through uber eats 2 burritos, 2 portions of cheese and guacamole. guacamole is the only thing that was good. both burritos were PLAIN, had the wrong rice and there was no cheese nor sauce despite me paying extra. then here comes the best part. the two cups of cheese were basically empty, paid this extra as well. they usually come full so i don't understand what's happened tonight. i don't understand whether they were out of cheese or the people working here couldn't really be bothered. i mean, if they are out of something i'm sure you wouldn't be able to order like tonight they said they were out of tortilla chips, right? i'm still waiting for my refund from uber eats and honestly i don't think i'll ever be coming back here if this is what i get after spending almost...
