It's a very good pizza but I can't give it five stars for various reasons. First of all, let me say that the quality and taste of the toppings is excellent. The Vecna especially is delicious, as is the Nduja (I tried four different pizzas btw). So that's half the battle with a pizza. The reason it can't be five stars is because of the base. I've eaten and reviewed five star pizzas in Italy and I can't say this is their equal. It's just too crunchy. That's not my preference when it comes to pizza, I think they should be more chewy and pull-apartable. Even if you like your pizza crunchy, I have to say they overcooked it a bit. And it wasn't just ours, we noticed it with every pizza that came before us to other tables. The base underneath should not be charred black like that, they left it in the oven at least a minute too long. That doesn't sound like long but it is for a pizza. The two other things that make this four instead of five stars is the service and the price. I'd never come here without booking in advance, especially in winter. We booked in advance and still waited out in the cold for 70 minutes for our pizza (despite being told it would take 45 minutes). I feel sorry for those who queued up and had to wait who knows how long. Also, while it is a very good pizza, it is badly overpriced. £49 for two sixteen inch pizzas and two dips is simply too much. The venue has a good buzz about it and is obviously very popular. I'm sure in the summertime it would be even better when you can walk one minute to the river and eat by the Thames. I would recommend it but please bear in mind these three things: it is too crunchy, you have to wait a long time, and it is very expensive. Still, very tasty.

Response to owner

Why do you get so upset by anyone who says anything negative? I gave constructive criticism and still said your pizzas are very good. This despite very slow service and overcooked dough. Relax. Learn from mistakes. Oh and we did get charged £49 for 2 16" pizzas and two dips, I didn't make that number up. My brother paid by card so we have the proof, but if you want to refund us some money then let us know. I said at the time it was too much but he couldn't be bothered arguing. We assumed it was more because we got two half and half pizzas, hence me saying I tried four different flavours. I don't care about dominoes and what they charge, that's a pointless comment and comparison. Stop being so butt-hurt, you're acting like I eviscerated you.

Second response to owner

I'm allowed to give my opinion on what is overpriced and what is badly overpriced, you don't have dictator-like say on what words can and can't be used for your establishment. I notice you stopped short of offering us some money back though considering we absolutely DID pay £49 for two pizzas and two dips. Don't forget to tell your chefs not to leave the pizzas in too long, mate. The guys at Sud Italia in Spitalfields two days ago cooked a perfect base, ask...

So first: queued for the 2pm service and came early (before 1:30pm) knowing I was going to need to wait until then to get my order in. Even after ordering - which took a lot more than expected the service is SO SLOW. I don’t know how it can be possible to cook pizza that slowly, but this guys somehow manage. I calculated and it takes then approx 20 mins to cook 4 pizzas. So if you’re in the middle of the queue and have somewhat 30 people in front you literally need to be willing to wait at least 1 hour on top of having to wait around the same to put in your order. The tall guy that comes out to give the tickets for the pizza orders could have somewhat mentioned that - but he obviously does not care. This is the type of place where the people don’t work for their customers - but you work for them. All they care about is the “hype” that comes with her pizza and chasing that. You need to go there, wait for 2.5 hours be willing to literally have nowhere to sit, receive ZERO customer service and be grateful.

Second. This pizza is literally nothing special. It’s more crispy than your average pizza as you can imagine but while I was really looking forward to try it I can guarantee you: it’s not an insane pizza.

Now you can put two and two together and decide if you really want to wait 2hours + for a pizza that I personally have not found life changing or very good for that wait (I really did hope it was going to be very good).

Obviously to each their own experience but I’m writing this review to give my honest opinion after I coming here - I had a completly different idea before coming here and I was really really hoping I...

We walked from Putney Bridge along to Ravenscourt Park yesterday, a side of the river I've never done. The north side is peppered with identikit pubs - Fullers, Young's, Metropolitan Pub Co etc, not that there's anything wrong with those, they serve a certain type of audience, but they're typically busy and expensive.

Just before Hammersmith bridge, you'll clock a little chalkboard, detailing "beer and pizza". As if by magic, a short cut through via an alley and you're presented with this glorious back street boozer.

Dating back the 1850s, this is a true locals pub, opposite the old Riverside Studios site, hence the walls covered in old photos of stars from the 1950s-1990s. One for the nostalgia fans (source: whatpub).

Inside and out, it's no frills, especially on the beers front - you won't even find a token Neck Oil in here. Moretti, Carlsberg, but the Fosters has its own pump - a sign of a good one. Immediately remembered the Guinness being highly regarded though, and can report it was exceptional.

We went for the 12" Cheese Pie, and I loved it. It was a little greasy in spots but that doesn't bother me, it's to be expected even given the cheese ratio - but it held its shape, the crunchy crust was unbelievable, it's thin, and a lovely tang to the sauce. I could've inhaled a full size one if we weren't off for more pizza later that day.

I'm not sure how they're keeping up with demand, but it's got to be tough! If you're gonna go, hit it first thing, it was quiet on a Sunday afternoon - it's a nice pub showing the footy too, friendly staff, and the walk is lovely. Make a nice afternoon of it, and roll yourself...

The home of the infamous Crisp Pizza - you'll be able to easily spot it by the long queue snaking out the door. These are potentially the best pizzas in London, served with an air of chaos that either adds to the experience or, if you're the neurotic planner type (every group has one, and I know because I am that one), makes the whole thing slightly more stressful than is ideal. Getting the system out the way (and honestly a well done explainer post pinned to the top of their Instagram feed would be an act of public service at this point in the craze), you're best to pre-order dough well in advance (it's done by WhatsApp) and plan your visit with plenty of time. They typically do walk-in slots every couple of hours, but this is the queue you'll be able to bypass with a pre-order. Once you've found a table, pop to the bar for a drink and ask when they'll be accepting orders against the pre-order list, which is generally in between the walk-in slots (to let them deal with the queue and avoid backing up the kitchen). After you've successfully navigated the above, I guarantee you'll conclude the pizza is worth it. The Vecna, featuring double cooked pepperoni and hot honey, is sensational. The Crisp, a pizza that is more pecorino than pie, is insanely delicious. And all the pies are unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. They recently confirmed they've exchanged on dedicated premises in a more central location, so get down to The Chancellors and experience it in its original form before the phenomenon gets even bigger.
