The Coffee Room - Deptford — Restaurant in London

The absolute saviour of our lockdowns, we are so lucky to have these guys right around the corner! When everything else was closed this place and the staff especially have been a wonderful break from being indoors.

The coffee, chai, teas and my fave hot choc are all reasonably priced. The staff are so lovely and friendly so really don't understand the comments about the rudeness bc in the past 10 months or more we have experienced nothing but friendly faces!

The cake selection is dangerously good and we have been fortunate to be offered items for free when the expiry date had run out - bug thumbs up for reducing waste from me!

The food is equally good; Italian stylr fresh sandwiches, wraps, pasta and polenta dishes plus great meal deals and veggie options. They've also got a great loyalty card scheme with a free croissant on your 5th and free coffee on your 10th purchase.

I can't wait until they can reopen fully so we can enjoy the sitting room which is a great place to watch the world go by.

And any place that has good music and panettone at Christmas is a good place to hang out in my books!

I have been coming here for a while now; it's a little out of my way, but I feel the coffee room merits the tired feet. First and foremost, the owner George is an all round decent man. I know how deeply committed he is to providing the best customer service and making a long term success of the business. The two employees, Sam and Sid, are down to earth, hard working, and respectful; they take pride in customer satisfaction and are willing to go the extra mile to provide the best service and make sure you leave happy. The food is expensive, but if you feel it was money well spent, then I guess that says it all.

I keep coming back here for two simple reasons: there aren’t many good cafés where I live, and it’s rare to find a place where the staff truly care. What stands out to me is that George, Sid, and Sam aren’t just doing a job they’re genuine, down to earth, hardworking, intelligent, and respectful young men. They create a welcoming atmosphere that feels refreshing and real.
