We reserved a table for Saturday lunch. M Restaurant had organised a summer BBQ. The restaurant was nearly full. We were given a menu and when we were ready to order the waiter said that was not the correct menu so he brought another one. We choose from the new menu only to find out when ordering some of the dishes where not available. At the end we ordered Rib-eye. I asked for my steak to be medium-well cooked. Half of the of it was indeed cooked as requested and the other half was undercooked and meat was chewy. I mentioned it to our waitress but all she did was clearing the table. The dessert menu was brought to us and AGAIN when we ordered we get told the items we ordered wasn't available! I had ordered a cheese board and could not believe that despite having the chance to run to Waitrose and buy good quality cheese they opted just not to have it. We were celebrating a birthday and they were nice to bring a little slice of cake with a candle. As I mentioned before they had a BBQ and I could see that must people had opted for this menu. Hard to understand how at 2pm they didn't have so many items from their normal grill menu. I tried to speak to someone and give feedback but it seemed no person had time for this. When bill came I could see they had charged the 12.5% service charge!!
I don't think I will go back there and I don't recommend other people to go .There are plenty of good restaurants around and for the price M charges you for food and service you could have much...
Read moreI've been here a few times now for regular meals and events such as their Christmas menu and New Years Eve parties. Each time we've been very warmly welcomed, which has been nice, and the staff have been very friendly. It's definitely one of the top eateries in Twickenham. The Sunday roast is definitely worth a trip for, and they do a decent burger.
Service can be a little inconsistent and you'll probably be served by more than one person, which can make it confusing for them to know which courses you've had, or that you're waiting for something. Prices are high but reasonable for the quality. They do seem to run out of some beers a bit too frequently, though, and I was served a drink with clingfilm in it once, but they were super apologetic about it.
The place can get super busy on Rugby days, which is to be expected, really, so it's worth booking ahead. Dogs are welcome in...
Read moreWe booked a table at The Crane Tap to celebrate our daughter’s graduation which was being held at Twickenham Stadium. We were feeling a little skeptical after reading mixed reviews - we had absolutely no need to be! We were welcomed very warmly when we arrived and were shown to our table even though we arrived early. The decorations for Christmas were very pretty which made the atmosphere equally warm. The gentleman who served us was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. The icing on the cake was the very generous surprise of a congratulatory dessert for our daughter which she was thrilled with and finished her memorable day on another high. We cannot recommend The Crane Tap enough and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Such a shame we live 3 hours away! Thank you all so much for finishing off our...
