The Good Bagel — Restaurant in London

Was really excited to know we had a Montreal style bagel place in Stokey . Had been a few times before when they first opened and yes it was a little scattered but the bagels were good . Then I have to say the last couple of times had been a real disappointment. I went in on a weekend and was told I can’t purchase bagels on their own as they need them for sandwiches on weekends. They did give them to me in the end .. but it seemed like they were really doing me a favour. So I was tempted to go again one last time . I think what I saw has completely put me off . Understandably there was only one person working and had deliveroo and customers to be attended . But I don’t thing I can forgive an establishment for poor hygiene. I saw the worker not only clean the table with there hands no cloth to wipe down. Then not wash there hands and begin making bagel sandwiches with un washed hands. This so put me off then I had to throw half of my bagel cause I just couldn’t eat it . Really disgusted. Seriously even the most basic bagel places at least wear gloves and charge a fraction...

£20 I’ll unfortunately never get back. We ordered: 1 bagel+ schmear+ lox £8.50 -add pickled cucumber £1 1 bagel + schmear £4.50 -add pickled cucumber £1 -add capers 50p 1 oat latte £4.50

The amount of schmear on our bagels must have been to make up for the lack of substance from the other ingredients - they were swimming in the schmear. If I’m paying £1 extra for pickled cucumber, I hope it would fill my bagel more.

The customer service is lacking. Several people were ignored, and left due to being completely ignored from entry onwards. The place was messy, so maybe the two workers were stressed and needed an additional person helping out?

Even if the customer service and cleanliness were spot on, the lack of a good bagel still would not be...

My wife and I got a salmon and cream cheese bagel with capers and the meat ball bagel. Honesty, I have never been a big fan of bagels but these were delicious.The filling in the bagels was generous and the bagel had a good consistency. The atmosphere was nice, it had good background music and we sat in front of the shop front window. The customer service was absolutely fantastic. It was my first time there and the two guys working there were very kind, helpful and welcoming, especially the young man working the till. Unfortunately I didn't take photos but will definitely post some after I go back to get...
