Although we visited with a very large party there was plenty of room for us all to be sat relatively close together! Considering we put in a lot of food and drink orders in a short space of time, the wait wasn’t longer than necessary at all. We had a look at the lunch menu and as soon as we noticed the battered haddock and tartar sandwich, we were sold! The haddock was perfectly cooked and crispy with a decent amount of tartar which complimented perfectly. Our side of fries was also extra yummy and served with wild garlic mayo which was amazing! Somebody else on our table ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese with many comments of how delicious it was; filled with a generous amount of salmon! Lastly and quite importantly we were very happy to see vegetable crudités and humous on the kids menu, as often it’s easy to order for young children but not necessarily for babies and this was a perfect option. We just asked for cucumber rather than the carrots to stay on the safe side, and they came in perfect slices - great for baby led weaning when out on the go. The humous was lovely and definitely tasted homemade! We will 100% be coming back here again:)

Visited this pub with high hopes, especially given the premium pricing on the menu—but sadly, the food was very disappointing. The menu was quite limited, and what we ordered didn’t meet expectations at all. We had the beetroot carpaccio salad, expecting thinly sliced beetroot as traditionally served. Instead, we received thick, clunky pieces that completely missed the point of a carpaccio. We also tried the crispy squid, which was not crispy in the slightest—it looked sad on the plate and the portion size was tiny considering the price. Overall, the presentation was poor, the portion sizes were small, and the quality didn’t match the menu descriptions or the prices charged. For what we paid, we expected something far more thoughtful and well-executed. The pub itself may have a nice atmosphere, but if you’re going for the food, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Definitely not good value for money.

I come here roughly 5 days a week and I love it every time I come. It’s a great place to come with people if you want a quiet drink and some food after a long day or just a few drinks. The whole pub has a lovely atmosphere and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy your time. The staff are amazing and are so friendly, and are always welcoming and also a great laugh and are easy to talk to. The staff are always coming over to clear your table and clear any space for you and are always willing to go above and beyond here and will always try their best to cater to everyone’s needs and any problems I’ve ever had. They are so quick to respond and proved the best possible service for me every time I’m here. The whole place is very clean and staff are always making sure they are keeping it clean and replacing or putting things away. The greyhound has most of the time got anything you ask for and will always try their best to find some similar alternative to what you are after. The staff definitely have great customer service and a real passion behind what they do. I’ve personally enjoyed my experience every time im here and wouldn’t think about going anywhere else if I don’t have to. No matter how busy they get down in the greyhound, they will always be able to keep on top of the place and keeping everywhere clean and getting rid of any used crockery and making sure that no matter what the standards are at a high quality. The food is always amazing whenever I’ve eaten here, the food is always hot and quick with the service. The staff and kitchen also always will have the best presentation of food and will make sure that even if the most annoying and awkward customer comes in (most of the time it’s me) they will always make sure that they will do what I ask for even if it’s a pain and will never complain about it. The hotel I’ve never personally stayed in however if the bar and the standards of everywhere in the actual pub then the hotel I can only imagine would have the same exceptional quality and high standards. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. I love it and certainly will always be coming back for a...

After deciding to book our wedding at short notice (we gave ourselves 8 weeks) we searched for a location that could provide us with a private dining experience for 40 people.. After a few false starts I contacted The Greyhound and liaised with Anne Marie. Anne Marie invited us down and showed us their beautiful swan dining room and we instantly knew this would be perfect. All information we were given was clear and to the point.

We met with David the chef who created a bespoke menu based on our likes and which also allowed our guests the option to choose (in advance) from starters and mains. Giving our guests this option went down really well rather than just having everyone have the same thing.

Anne-Marie and Poppy were great at assisting with my queries, and ensuring I had the table layout to organise a plan for them. I dropped in place names and favours which on the day they laid out in the room and I didn't need to worry about a thing, they had everything in hand.

Even having a routemaster bus arriving in their car park was not an issue!

The dining room was intimate, cozy, and allowed all guests to be fairly near to each other.

David and the Kitchen team were incredible, everyone loved the food which was delicious and the portion sizes were a lot more than what you would normally see at a wedding, a few of us struggled to clear the plate.

All the team went above and beyond and the service was faultless throughout the afternoon and evening.

We had booked one of the hotel rooms for the night. The room was a good size, with a lovely and comfortable bed.

To Anne-Marie, Poppy, David and all the team at The Greyhound, thank you, you all worked so hard and nothing was an issue. All our guests have said how lovely the food, setting and staff were.

From start to finish all the team at the Greyhound were fantastic and would not hesitate to recommend it for a...

DISCLAIMER. The service went wrong during our visit, but was made right in the end. It wouldn't be fair for me to consider it in my rating.

My partner and I booked a table for 2:30 for a roast on a Sunday. We showed up on time but the table still needed to be cleared, cleaned etc. We were asked to wait at the bar and we would be called in. This took around 10minutes. Once we had sat at the table, it took around 15minutes for someone to take our food order - we already had drinks due to waiting at the bar. The food took awhile to arrive, and we grew suspicious when a table of two arrived next to us, managed to get their food, and pay the bill before we'd even got any food. At around 3:30 it dawned on the waiter that our order had not been put through. Once it had been, the order was prioritised and delivered to our table within 5 - 10minutes. They did the right thing and removed the food from our bill.

Now for the food. My partner had the pork belly roast, which looked like a substantial portion and came with a variety of veg. She was complimentary about her meal, but did wish additional gravy was provided to pour in the giant Yorkshire. I went for the fish and chips, which again was a good size. The chips and fish came unseasoned - which I appreciated so I could control the salt and vinegar levels, the fish batter was also really crispy. Unfortunately, the curry sauce was cold which was a shame as it was the main reason I fancied fish and chips...
