This is such a beautiful park in the heart of Carshalton village with something for everyone of and age. The two big ponds are full of fish, various species of duck, various species of goose, coots, as well as the resident herons. There are lovely walks along the river where you can feed the birds with special bird food available from Oxfam in the high street. A lot of the old buildings from when the land was privately owned are still there and they're very interesting, including the old manor house, the outbuildings and the mill. The mill was sadly burnt down a number of years ago but it has been lovingly restored. Further around you'll find woods with lots of friendly squirrels who'll take monkey nuts out of your hand. Theres a big playground with swings and slides, merry-go-rounds, zip wire, castle etc and the equipment is in 3 areas for toddlers, young children and older children. Theres a bowls club, crazy golf a cage for basketball and a huge field to run around on, play ball games, throw a frizzy and picnic. Theres a small cafe with outdoor seating and right at the very back of the park is a leisure centre. People of all ages...
Read moreIt's a park! There's trees, grass and dog poop! Grove is known locally as the Ponds, because it has ponds due to the river Wandle. This also means there is lots of wild fowl ( and I'm not describing the locals here ). Many people come to feed the birds, usually some kind of stale white bread. Please give them proper bird or duck food, many local shops sell it. Due to the amount of food that is left on the floor this has now attracted a huge amount of squirrels. So if ur not a fan be prepared to be on high alert. They are everywhere. If ur lucky u may spot the albino squirrel! Lots of shops near by, parking is expensive now £1.50 for 30 mins. Thank u london borough of sutton for that. There's not many bins, so be prepared to take ur rubbish home- please dont leave it there - thank u. Some people take fishing nets. The kids type not the Robson Green type. U might be lucky and catch a few sticklebacks or an empty bottle of Prime. Either way the kids will be...

The Grove Park is part of the Carshalton Conservation Area and has two distinct areas – an ornamental park near the ponds and a recreation ground to the east. In medieval times the area was part of the grounds of Stone Court manor house. Remaining outbuildings were converted to what are now education department offices. The mansion, Grove House, currently used for council offices, was built in the early 19th century.
The Leoni Bridge is so named because it’s thought that Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni designed it in the 17th century. It is to be found where the park meets the Lower Pond and it’s made of white Portland stone.
A restored water wheel – Upper Mill – may have been there since Saxon times, and was renovated in 2004 after a fire.
The recreation area, created from fields in the 1920s, now houses a children’s playground, crazy golf, a bowling green for Carshalton Bowling Club, a ball park, café...
