What a gem!
Popped in here for an impromptu pint after an appointment at Lewisham Hospital, next door. Have lived in Blackheath for over 32 years but never been in here before. Lovely little unobtrusive high street boozer, lots of nice features inside, some stained glass screen panels, cast iron radiators, traditional furniture etc. Warm welcome at 11.30am from a very attractive mature member of staff, plus a pint of Beavertown Gamma Ray for only £4.90 ( costs £7.00 in the posher pubs of Blackheath & Greenwich!) Only two other customers in at that time, but a nice homely atmosphere and an eclectic but not intrusive playlist coming from the jukebox Gene Pitney, Jim Reeves, Sophie Ellis- Bextor! Read moreI didn't know what to expect from this pub. It's a bit Tardis like, it's larger than you expect looking at it from the outside. There wasn't a huge choice of real ales but I enjoyed what I had. Stayed longer than I intended, mostly because of the rugby on the TV.
