šĀ Homerton šŗĀ Ā£6.50 Pillars Pilsner
The Kenton is located close to Well Street Common in Homerton, Hackney, East London. The nearest station Homerton on the Mildmay Line.
This brightly painted pub was built by Sir Benjamin Kenton in 1864 as The Kenton Arms. In 2009, the pub was refurbished, reopened and transformed by Norwegian Guvānor Egil.
This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that has an eclectic collection of trinkets, collectibles and keepsakes. The servery is centrally located with the main bar wrapping around it. There are lots of subtle and not so subtle hints to the Guvānors Scandinavian heritage. To the left of the servery is Odinās Corner, at the back of the main bar is cosy space called Thorās Room and how about the huge moose head on the wall which was shot by the Guvnorās Grandfather. Towards the back of the pub is a covered spot which is a geared up to watch the footy, just to the side is a unique and funky beer garden.
The beer selection is excellent and offers a mix of premium beers, London breweries, cask ales and No & Low options. I kept in local and opted for a pint Pillars Pilsner by E17 brewery @pillarsbrewery , my pint was great, price point was above average. The food offering is @yardsalepizza who will deliver your pizza to the pub.
We arrived just after 2pm on warm overcast Saturday afternoon in August. The pub was fairly quiet with a few local punters dotted about. The atmosphere was relaxed and had a laidback local pub feel. The service was welcoming and personable, the team member who served us was friendly and chatty.
The pub has plenty to keep you entertained, there are DJ and Quiz nights, a Karaoke Room plus Live Premier and Champions League games are shown.
@thekentonpub was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The smƶrgƄsbord of trinkets adds an element of fun to the decor, the beer choice is diverse and supports London breweries, the service was first class and there is plenty to keep you entertained. This award winning Hackney local is a must visit London Pub.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMyself, my wife and son had a very poor dining experience and we wouldnāt return. First, although we booked several days in advance, the table we were taken to was obviously not suitable for three and would barely have accommodated three plates. We were told they were fully booked. We said it wouldnāt work so they agreed we could sit at another table providing we finished before the next people. Then we ordered one starter, a baked Camembert to share and three roast dinners. The starter was listed as a starter on the menu. After about 25 minutes the starter and the three roasts all came together. We pointed out to the waiter that we ordered the Camembert as a starter and he said āOh. There was no note on the order that it was a starterā. We just carried on, not wanting to argue, although my wife said after that it was that actual waiter who had taken the order and was from the āstarterā section anyway, so his attempts to explain this were pathetic. Anyway, the Camembert was cold. The meat of the main course was nice, but the root vegetables were virtually raw. We did tell the waitress who handled it better than the slippery waiter, she said āThanks for letting us knowā. We left an hour and a quarter after arriving and there were only a few people there, so the attempts to cram us into a minute corner were unwarranted. As we left, there was some argument in progress between the kitchen staff and the front of house staff. We eat out several times a week and this is the first time in years Iāve been moved to record a particularly negative experience. Of the Kenton, I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Kenton used to be our favourite local - they had Brockmans Gin, insanely good buffalo chicken wings and the best roasts in town with the tastiest trimmings. One day we called up to book a table and BAM - "we are currently changing over our kitchen and will reopen for food in 2 weeks". It was a sad day and we will forever remember what it used to be because The Kenton had combined the things any pub goer wants the most: great music, cosy atmosphere, beautiful lamps and general decor, BANGING FOOD and great staff. Yes all the other things still remain but we sorely miss the old kitchen as I believe many others do as well. We live in hope that it will switch back over one day but for now this pub is not our "go to" anymore and you've lost lots of fans in changing it all over. Not that the current food is bad, but it's not as good as before.
We still love everything else about it but I think you've lost some regulars.
Will still occasionally come binge on your...
