Last Saturday, we traveled from out of town with great excitement to visit The Midyeci. The social media advertisements and reviews looked fantastic. The overall hygiene, cleanliness of the restrooms, and ambiance were excellent. The lady who greeted us at the entrance was very polite and attentive. We had no issues with the service at all.

We ordered mussels and grilled fish. Although the portion of the grilled fish was smaller than usual, it was quite delicious. However, the mussels, which were the main reason for our visit, turned out to be a huge disappointment. Almost the same amount of mussels was served to other tables after us, but they arrived opened, whereas ours were closed. If the ligaments of the mussels had been properly cut, this wouldn’t have been an issue. Unfortunately, since they weren’t fully cut, opening them was very difficult, and we ended up making a mess while trying to eat.

The rice stuffing inside was completely flavorless, and unfortunately, the mussels were not fresh. This was quite obvious from their smell and color. Sadly, just 4-5 hours later, we started experiencing digestive issues. Since we had come all this way mainly for the mussels, we left feeling extremely disappointed.

Edit on 26/02/2025 - After seeing our review, the restaurant contacted us very quickly and explained the situation in detail. We sincerely appreciate their polite and attentive approach. We will definitely give it another chance next time—perhaps it was just an unlucky day for us. Once again, thank you to The Midyeci team for their care...

Second visit and we were greeted by the lovely waitress who remembered us and took us through their newly designed menu which included the option for freshly cut chips which we ordered in addition to the Fish Wrap and of course the Mussels.

The Mussels were amazing as always and our waitress was super kind to always throw a few more on the house. The fish wrap was delicious too.

This time round we also had a couple of glasses of wine - the rosé, served cold, is outstanding!

We love this place because of the waitress, the food (hats off to the kitchen) and overall vibes mean that it will be one of our go to spots when dining in Dalston! You should make it yours too!

A nice restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. A must visit when in Dalston.

The stuffed mussels are outstanding. I preferred the classic and my other half the spicy. Started with 4 and loved them so ordered 2 more... However Upon ordering a second round they ran out of spicy so us 4 classic (2 on the house)

Kudos to the waitress for making us aware that the chips are not freshyly handcut and are from frozen. They should really update the menu though appreciated the honesty during service and that she bought us a few to sample.

The signature trio wrap which had calamari, prawns and mussels was recommended by the waitor and it was outstanding - I loved the topping on the wrap - divine.

I can't...

Good location, parking in vicinity, so good for a disabled person to access. Looks small, and Midyeci is, not so small when you get inside. The atmosphere is evident upon entry, the warm friendliness of the staff makes Midyeci welcoming. Once seated the view is of life on Kingsland Road, Dalston. Great for people watching. Midye is Turkish for Mussel. Adding the "ci" makes the name mean a Mussel vendor. So folks, it's a "Fish Shop", only Midyeci specialises in Mussel dishes, very good ones. My partner, Fureya, ordered Mussel Shish, which are battered Mussels on a bun, Stuffed Mussels (delicious doesn't cut it, they're heavenly), amongst other dishes. I had a Fish Kokorich which was spicy, not too hot, herby and mouthwateringly delicious. The Midyeci Dalston is licensed so your favourite Turkish tipple is available, Bomonti and Efes beers, and, wait for it, Yeni Raki is available on the menu ( so good it's on the menu twice). Dine in, takeaway or home delivery via your favourite delivery service is available. Check out the menu, go there, eat your fill, or do the other things, whatever you do, you must try this excellent little gem of...

Came for the mussels, stayed for the wrap. Had this place on my to-go list for few years and today I got occasion to visit when coming back from my job in the area. Service was quick and friendly, I liked mussels very much, think it's the only place in London where you can find them. Refreshing, tasty with good amount of lemon. But I was still hungry, that was only an appetiser, let's be honest. Decided to get a fish wrap and my oh my, it was delicious. Quite spicy and hot with ton of flavours, peppers, never had mackerel that good in my life. Wrap itself was properly fried and I believe they used eggs to cover it first. You can fell it, it's not your usual wrap from kebab place. They didn't have pickle juice which is a shame, I love sour tastes, I drink water from gherkins or cabbage from time to time and was wondering how does it taste Turkey style. Next time hopefully. It's small place, 6 tables all together, didn't see toilet but they give you wet napkins. Now I'd like to check all their menu but I live too far. Anyway, highly recommended if you are looking for new flavours.
