I recently had the opportunity to visit a local pub for a Christmas dinner, and overall, it was a decent experience. One aspect that stood out to me was the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that all guests had a pleasant dining experience. From assisting with menu choices to promptly addressing any concerns, the staff truly made a positive impression. The pub also had a good selection of beers to choose from. Whether you prefer a classic pint or a more unique craft beer, there was something for everyone. The variety of options added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. One of the highlights of the pub was the affordable pricing. The room area where the Christmas dinner was held had a nice atmosphere and was reasonably priced. It was a great value for the quality of food and service provided. Additionally, the pub had a spacious and beautiful garden area. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a large outdoor space, especially during the holiday season. It provided a great opportunity to take a stroll and enjoy the fresh air. Speaking of the food, the Sunday roast served for the Christmas dinner was satisfactory. The portion sizes were generous, and the flavors were acceptable. While it may not have been the most outstanding meal I've had, it was still enjoyable, and the staff ensured that everyone's dietary needs were accommodated. One minor drawback was that the room where the dinner was held was a bit cold. However, it was still within an acceptable range, and the presence of a big TV with Netflix and YouTube helped to keep the kids entertained. Overall, my experience at the pub for the Christmas dinner was not too bad. The helpful and friendly staff, good selection of beers, affordable pricing, and the presence of a big and nice garden area were definite highlights. While the food was satisfactory, the room temperature could have been improved. Nevertheless, it was still a pleasant evening spent with family and friends.

I initially wrote a review that said the the service was hit and miss, everything else was fanatic. Now, however, it’s the opposite and much to the detriment of the business. I bought a Sunday roast today, plate turned up with the smallest slither of meat - a waiter asked, is everything ok? - I said that’s crazy, they agreed and told me that’s what the staff get as well, the kitchen are trying to save money and my £17 slither wasn’t resolved … I then merrily thought I would fill Up on the Yorkshire pudding that tasted really “eggy” and was abandoned, the rest, the veg and the croquet of sorts were under seasoned and also disregarded - I now have to cook dinner, £17 poorer this evening- it’s a shame, Enfield needs new blood, but this isn’t tolerable

We recently hired the garden & function room with catering service at The Old Wheatsheaf as our reception for our son’s christening, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their service. From the outset, communication was excellent. They took the time to understand our requirements and made every effort to accommodate our requests. Our celebration was one to remember & all our guests loved the venue. If you’re looking for a tidy, well maintained, intimate outdoor space with ample seating & outdoor heaters - this is the place! The staff were attentive and proactive. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend The Old Wheatsheaf and their catering options for any special occasion!

Visited on Sunday just gone with a family member as I have drank in the venue various times over the years and was singing its praises. Sadly the venue isn't what it once was. Upon arrival I was ignored by two staff as I stood at the bar (I was in the smaller bar section not the left bar) who didnt greet or acknowledge me for a few minutes. Eventually I was served and after a drink we ordered food, with it again taking ages to get served in what was an otherwise empty pub while the 3-4 young men working behind the bar talked among themselves about a generous tip one of them had received working another night or event. There was an older couple in the bar along with my family member and I and at one point the old man of the pair cleared his own table of plates and glasses and was ignored the entire time he was in there with his partner. To his far left was an Asian couple who ended up doing the same...at no point did staff ask how their food was, ask if they wanted another drink, clear their tables etc; At one point another couple came in with their children and mentioned having a booking for dinner that day...no table had been set aside or cleaned for them and they were told "yeah...just sit anywhere" by the staff. It is sad to see how far this venue has fallen especially as I had only just been singing its praises to my family member but its awful now. The only way I would describe the vibe would be a GP's waiting room. I had actually gone in to enquire about booking the venue for an upcoming party with 80 guests but after this encounter I sadly don't see...

I've given it 4 stars because it is what it is. A decent pub with great smiley staff and a good selection of drinks. Having never been in an "old smoke" pub before so not knowing what ale to try, they were more than happy to give me a taster from every single ale so I could choose. The only reason I never gave 5 stars was the food side. It was an UTTER nightmare and the warning signs were there before we even ordered. Virtually every plate that came out to other tables was either wrong or went to the wrong table. There seemed to be no organisation whatsoever. You had to order what you wanted at the bar and give a table number, so how can you be taking it to the wrong table. The meat sharing platter for £21 wasn't very big. In fact I could quite have easily eaten it all myself. The salt and pepper squid wasn't cooked correctly as the coating was soggy and the squid very chewy. We neve got any plates..... Even though we asked for them so we're just picking off the sharing platter. Items were missing and had to be asked for. That being said, if you want a decent pub with a decent drink and atmosphere then give it a go. It should just stick to drink in my opinion or have a serious sort out in...
