Seems a decent pub. Very modern interior, with tables aplenty. I bought a pint of Wandle for £4.20 a pint. No Youngs available.

The history of the pub is nowhere to be seen, which is a shame. It had been built in 1900 as a pub, but local churchgoers objected to it opening as a pub, and so remained a shop until almost 75 years later. It was named 'Pig and Whistle' by the brewery and opened in November 1974, after finally being able to get a licence. At the opening party a pig called 'Pat the porker' was brought along on a Youngs horse-drawn dray, and chairman John Young played a whistle! The original pub sign was a drawing of a pig on its hind legs playing a whistle. The current pub sign, thankfully not replaced by the daft 'initials' as done on other Youngs establishments, has a pig looking at a farmer who has...

I really hate having to leave bad reviews but I have to say something on this occasion. Popped in with my family for dinner yesterday evening and ordered some food at around 7/7:30pm. It took about 45 minutes to our meals to arrive by which point we were already quite agitated. When the food did arrive we were extremely disappointed. I ordered a currywurst hotdog, the sausage was burnt black at one end and the baguette was hard. The currywurst 'sauce' was just a vinegary ketchup drizzled on top. Really not what you'd expect for £17. My mother-in-law had a chicken burger which was dry, chewy and almost burnt too. Again, not what you'd expect for £18. It's a shame as the pub decor was lovely, the staff were friendly but the food really did embarrass them. In no hurry...

The most child unfriendly pub I have been to. Terrible attitude and rude staff. We came as a large group of adults and kids (NCT crowd) and precooked the outside area, highlighting we had lots of young children with us. After we had arrived and ordered the kids food, they said their policy is that kids have to sit down the whole duration. How you are supposed to enforce that with kids aged between 18mths and 4. Had they warned us, we wouldn’t have booked. If you are not child friendly, don’t have a kids menu. Kids food is not great and how they can serve and charge so much for Peppa Pig pasta is completely lazy. We didn’t order adults food and promptly left. Much better child friendly...

This is a stunning pub, extremely nice staff... I came here to complete some work today.... I've been here a few times and never a bad experience... Josh the manager assisted me during my visit.. top bloke 🙂👍 The pig and whistle has comfy, covered outside seating and a real homely feel to the decor inside... Impeccably clean throughout offering Darts and warm pork scratchings 😋😋 I tried one... So Fresh, with a rich full flavour, moist a totally different experience from cold ones... Highly recommend. 😎

This is a good pub. In particular they have a cabinet full of hot sauce which is excellent. They also seem to stay open forever which is also good. Plenty of seating. The food is good, no complaints. The have plenty of events/evenings going on. Loo’s are clean Also as a parent, it’s nice to see this is a pub for grownups. With my kids I go elsewhere, when it’s with a mate I go here. Also they serve black samuca, 1*. But only for the person who buys it.

A fantastic eclectic venue/pub for all to enjoy... Staff are very professional and helpfully friendly. with a great selection of beers, spirits and a fantastic menu, especially the Sunday roast at £13.95 with all the trimmings. It's also very dogs friendly, with even a Dog menu for your Mut... Lovely diverse beer garden with personal beach hut booths and tables with plenty of space.
