I stayed here for one night in the double ensuite room because I was attending a course nearby. Pro's: - Comfortable bed and cushions - Plenty of outlets for your power plugs and usb plugs - Free and fast WiFi - big desk with comfortable chair - really big shower with strong water jet and steaming hot water - Friendly staff - delicious English breakfast served quickly - Underground is a short walk - Borough market and other restaurants are a short walk away Con's: - Lots of typical hostel noises: party people in the lively bar downstairs and in the streets, slamming doors in the middle of the night from other guests, fray trains run over a bridge across the street from the hostel during the night. You'll need quality earplugs. - The room was a bit hot on a fresh September night, I guess it will be really hot in summer. There is no Aircon in the room. - Lots of very small stairs to climb to get to the room. You'll struggle if you bring a big suitcase. - For some reason, there is a bright yellow green light right above the bed that stays on all night. I couldn't figure out what it was nor how to put it out. Tip: The brunch is 9 pounds but guests get 25% off. You might be cheaper off to book a room without breakfast and buy your breakfast with your discount.

Me and my friend just went to this place as they're offering a lunch cheeseburger and it was so disappointing! The service was terrible and the food was awful. We arrived around 13:15 and ordered the burgers for takeaway. The girl told us that it would be 5-10 min...only at 13:45 is that we got our order...it took them more than 20 minutes to make this! And it wasn't even busy. If it was I would understand as I have worked in hospitality before but this is ridiculous. The other guy gave us the takeaway bags and didn't even apologize for the delay, neither the girl that took our order. I have worked in a bar before and this is just had customer service, not apologising or even offering something complementary to compensate for the extra wait time. Also when I asked how long it was going to take, I noticed that the "chef" was not wearing any gloves while cooking...I was disgusted but unfortunately the burgers were already being made. We finally got to eat our burgers and the meat butty is completely burnt...I can even see black pieces mixed with the cheese and sauce... simply disgusting. I would not recommend going to this place for food at all!!

I love the bathroom, clean and great shower, however the room is not that clean , dusty and yellow spot pillow case cover, door is old, need to push hard to close well,so it'd be a bang to close it , staffs are kind and nice, while I stay, a guy stay there being selfish, closed all windows and fan , made the room like an oven because he doesn't like noise ,and aggressively turn it off again when we found it's hot at 02:30am .for what he did and said to me, i didn't feel safe at all, The staff did help talk to him, anyway a nightmare night for me, the other day I knew the same person did this again several times al,he stayed quite long there , IT would have been great if they had warned this guy not being selfish when staying in a small room with many people when he did it couple times before, just buy earplugs, then yesterday night drama might not have happened . but still , thank you for the staff being kind .

Quite simply the rudest publican I have encountered in 30 years visiting licences premises.

The first time I visited this lady refused to believe that the larger was flat and made us who queried it feel completely uncomfortable. She the refused to replace them, she didn’t taste the beer, just looked at it with her magic eyes.

She was rude throughout.

However we gave her the benefit of a doubt and revisited as the place is local to our office and this time she was so rude I was shocked. She came to serve us and because two out of 9 of us said we were exempt from wearing a mask, she muttered to herself and walked back into the pub. We waited outside for ten minutes until I went in and asked if she can serve us and she refused. She had left us all just sat outside without telling us she wasn’t serving us and why. It turns out last time my group went one said they were exempt and she took offence and said we were trouble.

After a year with no business I am sure the owner of that pub would be made up that this curt, rude and insolent woman had turned a group of 9 sober people away, professional working people who don’t cause trouble, who all wanted to eat when we were the only customers there.

GOOD LUCK whoever owns this place, perhaps look at the type of person you employ because that woman’s customer service skills are the worst I’ve ever encountered, appalling, will never be going back and will be speaking of my...

Don't be fooled by ratings1. I arrived at around 8 a.m. and an employee used my passport to train new employees for more than 5 minutes, which was a waste of time.2. The staff is not very positive and friendly. When I wanted them to help me carry my heavy luggage to the luggage locker, he refused to help me.3. The path between the luggage storage room and the hotel corridor is very narrow and dangerous. If you are a little fat and carrying a 28-inch suitcase, you may not be able to pass through any passage. Or you are not strong enough and may be in danger4. It is 6 minutes away from the subway station. You have to go up to the subway twice. On one of the floors, you need to climb the stairs with a heavy suitcase. There is an elevator on the last floor to leave the subway station.5. Come back to check in at nearly 6 o'clock. There is a bar downstairs in the hotel. There are so many people and the employees have no time to pay attention to you.6. The room is a 3-tier bunk bed. I can’t stretch my neck and it’s very difficult to get in and out of bed. There is no space to organize my things. My suitcase can only be placed in the luggage room.7. The room does not have any fans or air conditioners, and the air is not circulated8. The bunk bed is poorly equipped and has no lights for your own bed.9. The equipment in the room and the locker are broken.10. The hotel does not provide refunds, and it is uncomfortable...

We stayed 2 nights. The staff was nice. Our room had 9 beds, one person was in the bed they gave us so we had to sleep in another bed. There was 9 lockers, but one had a lock on (like it’s been like that for a while) so when we went to leave we had to stuff 2 bags in one locker because all the other lockers were been used. So not enough lockers for everyone. The tiny bathroom (toilet area) was always dirty. The trash was always full. There is another bathroom at the end of the hallway, but we did not know this until the day we were leaving. Difficult to shower because you have to leave your stuff outside on the sink which is always wet. Not sure how they clean the place, maybe with a hose? Because the whole room was wet when we went to shower in the morning, the walls, the sink, the mirror… imposible to brush you teeth without getting your clothes all wet. I mean what the h? If you wanted to put your close anywhere you could not, because everything was wet. And apparently whoever cleaned did not cared to dry it.

The place needs a good clean. The hallway, the access stairs needs to be deeply cleaned. You have to go trough the bar to get to the rooms every time. No big deal, but keep that in mind. Let’s say this: out of 23 nights we stayed around Europe, this was the hostel we...
