The Stables Café at Orleans Gallery — Restaurant in London

We visited yesterday and ordered a sausage roll and a cheese sandwich. Were warned of a 20 min wait for food. Sausage roll appeared within 5 mins, great and very tasty. However waited over 20 mins for the toasted cheese sand when which when it arrived consisted of two slices of white sandwich loaf, toasted with two small slices of processed cheese slice barely melted which went nowhere near the edge of the bread. (I wished we had photographed this. )We asked the waitress for a refund as we felt it was an appalling offering (£3.50) and she obviously called the manager, who was very aggressive , saying what did we expect as it was a simple toasted cheese sandwich and refused a refund. We were shocked at her response and manner and left. The sandwich was untouched. Looking at a previous review it looks as if we are not the only ones expecting a higher standard of a sandwich and the appalling attitude of the manager/chef?? Good cakes and food. Been numerous times but recently Let down by some staff. I ordered a flat white, got my collection number, when it was called I collected my cup and continued on my dog walk only to discover it was a cup of hot water… I walked back a few minutes later, said what had happened to the guy at the counter and he said my flat white was outside still. I had been gone for about 5 minutes so obviously it would be cold and was sitting on a table shared by all customers- I explained this to him and he just didn’t respond. Very confused. Our first visit, saw a lovely menu online, read good reviews. Got there and found only 3 pre-made/boxed sandwich options and a couple of sweet options. We tried the banana and blueberry bread that was flavourless and had a solid underbaked base that was inedible. We had a sandwich that was very soggy.The table was half-heartedly cleaned (after we asked) and the one staff with whom we had contact was, disinterested at best. I love the idea and location and don't normally leave poor reviews but we were quite disappointed and since it's a bit of a mission to get there, it seems best a kindness to help people adjust their expectations.
