Venue hire review: I would not recommend this venue for any family event, wedding, festival, christening and definitely not a funeral.
I paid to hire this venue for a wellness festival and the manager was unapproachable and on top of that was in a bad mood every time I visited to find out about the venue.
When I first booked I was given information about the place and then gradually I was told after creating flyers and marketing items that there was a secret no list.
No DJ music, no ticket selling, no more than 3 posters in the bar as he doesn't know me, no set up before the event only 30 minutes and when I asked for them to open earlier at 11 I was told no again and told to come at 10pm the night before the event.
When I arrived at 930pm the night before I found out the space had been closed all day and I could of came earlier but there was no communication.
The venue room was dirty we had to wipe the tables and clear away left over rubbish.
I was told no to designing the Chalk board then last minute when I saw it had not been cleaned the manager said I should clean it and gave me spray to wipe up their mess.
The manager kept speaking about him making money and told my staff to pack away food due to insects.
He was very negative about the weather and just put a downer on the whole event for me which was not OK especially as it was a wellness event for uplifting mental wellbeing.
Before the event the venue doors were opened late and there was once again no basic items inside eg a bin.
Throughout the event they continuously Intimidated me about final venue payments and when I asked to use an alternative method of payment they just stared at me applying more unnecessary stress.
So yes a wellness event which was not very relaxing for me given the venue space.
And I still paid for the venue :( very disappointed the layout was beautiful but the manager was not nice.
Would not book this space again which is unfortunate as I wanted to bring wellness to the local community.
1 star for the staff who were supportive and for the beautiful...
Read moreThe Viaduct Pub in Hanwell Our visit to The Viaduct Pub in Hanwell for Sunday Lunch, on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon.
A local pub, come restaurant just on the outskirts of Hanwell, on the Uxbridge Road just passed the Viaduct.
Offering delicious food all week at the top end of pub food prices, The Viaduct offers a great Sunday Roast with all the trimmings.
After much consideration we decide to both opt for the leg of lamb, served with veg, roast potatoes and a massive Yorkshire Pudding on top, all covered in tons of what the menu refers to as “The Viaducts Special Gravy.”
Food was great, although the Viaducts Special Gravy was a little rich, so maybe next time we will ask for the gravy in a separate jug.
We also ordered a Kids Roast Chicken for Maisy, our seven year old, something that she loves at home.
When it arrived she was really excited, huge portions of chicken, roast potatoes and especially at the huge Yorkshire Pudding that sat on top. This was all drenched in tons of the Special Gravy.
On eating a couple of mouthfuls, however, the excitement turned to disappointment. “I don’t like the gravy, it tastes funny”.
Note to self and the chef, maybe don’t pour the gravy on the kids meal, it was far too rich for her, and I would say for most seven year olds.
Quickly switched the Kids roast for Chicken Nuggets and chips with no fuss at all, thank you the Viaduct.
Apple & Fruit Crumble
Desert, we opted for Apple and Fruit Crumble, with the option of Custard – ideal comfort food on a cold rainy day.
The fruit, mainly Apple, was a perfect balance of sweet and sharp, the Oat Crumble was crisp, and the custard was deliciously...
Read moreEverything that comes out of the kitchen is a culinary marvel. Even when the ingredients are simple, they've been prepared and cooked to perfection, backed by what must be decennary experience. I've come here three times, and I've had a full English breakfast, an Eaton mess, grilled salmon with roasted vegetables, an apple crumb, an enormous chicken and avocado jacket potato, butter chicken curry and a taste of what I think was their new lemongrass cheesecake - dishes drawing from the English, Indian and French tradition, at least - and everything was just so good that (and it's a rare thing in London) I sometimes stopped in order to contemplate it. I've been in the UK for 8 years, and this comfortably large yet cosy local pub easily figures amongst the 5 best places where I've eaten. Service was relaxed, but wonderfully honest (discouraging us from ordering more beforehand, since the portions are large) and welcoming....
