🚇 Queens Road Peckham 🍺 £3.90 Cruzcampo
The Windsor is located down the New Cross end of Old Kent Road in Southeast London. The nearest station is Queens Road Peckham.
This imposing boozer was built in the 1860’s and started life as The Prince of Saxe Coburg, this was the Pub’s name from its construction until 1917. In the midst of the First World War with Germany, King George V abolished all former German Royal titles and the pub was renamed The Prince of Windsor. The pub went through a few more names changes, today it is simply called The Windsor.
There were once 37 pubs along the Old Kent Road, today, only two pubs remain, The Windsor and the magnificent Lord Nelson.
This is a good size one bar pub that is traditionally decorated. The servery is located on the back wall and has a large Millwall flag draped over the back bar. The layout is fairly spacious with a raised carpeted area by the windows. The decor consists of a boarded floor, patterned wallpaper, deep red painted panelling, black and white historical prints, a mix of seating and a pool table. At the front of the pub are a few benches for the warmer months.
The beer line up offers a selection of well known keg favourites plus three cask ales. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was great, price point was very reasonable at under four quid. I didn’t see any food on offer, but there are plenty of bar snacks.
I arrived just after 11am on a wet and windy Saturday morning in August. The pub had not long opened and had four local punters in attendance. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with an eighties soundtrack playing in the background and the horse racing was on mute on the few screens dotted around the bar. The service was excellent, I was served by a lovely lady who was welcoming and friendly.
The @windsorse15 is a down to earth well presented local that was a pleasure to spend time in. There is a lovely local feel to the pub and the surroundings are comfortable. A big shout out for the beer prices which were very reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, this pub is well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Read moreWent there today at around 12-12:15pm with my mom and sister and had THE WORST experience.Got in to this pub (it was empty) to get some tea as it was very cold today but went for a toilet first. I went to toilet with my mom as my sister was waiting at the table for us. Few minutes later, as I was still in the toilet waiting for my mom, the dark haired middle-aged woman who was working at the bar STORMED into the toilets and told me in a very rude manner that this is not a public toilet as she ASSUMED that we won't order anything and she asked me to leave while i was still in the toilet! She LITERALLY went in the TOILET to tell me to leave! I asked her why is she assuming that we won't order anything, I was waiting for my mom, she started to SHOUT at me that she already asked my sister what she wanted to order and my sister answered her that she is waiting for us so she won't order alone so she went to toilet to herrass us! How rude of her was to storm in to toilets to SHOUT at potential customers?? In what universe its ok to harrass people in toilets?? She told me to leave and wait for my mother outside! As soon as my mom left the toilet we left that place straight away after being shouted at and stalked to the toilets literally the first 2 minutes we were in this place! The rudest, most abnoxious and bizzare behaviour by this woman! I would not recommend to go there and spend any money to support this horrific place where a bar worker follows you to toilet and herrases you because she assumes that you won't order! Absolutelly disgusting behaviour. Now I know why the place was empty as the staff (in this case this dark haired middle-aged woman) is...
Read moreThis is about returning their energy to the source. They claim to offer accommodation. The staff are rude and without any manners.
This has come to a head due to the fact their facilities are without anywhere to have a hot shower. They blame those who do use the facilities for everything that is going wrong with the building; which is awful customer service. The showers are ancient and non functioning.
On the record, they first stated that the showers are never allowed to have hot water. When that excuse fell on 'deaf ears', they took to placing threats and false allegations on a guest. The usual tactics when they are trying to hide disrepair.
Also, the data protection issue is that some staff are informing others outside the facilities who the occupiers are and the type of accommodation they are booked into and the reasons they are using the accommodation and more. All this is nonsense and a waste of time over the lack of hot water in the showers, or they are decommissioned. The issue is easily remedied they just don't want to spend any money for services that they are paid...
