Very mixed bag today from Tonkotsu. Their own Tonkotsu Ramen is great as always, the broth is rich and tasty and the marinated egg and pork are done well and soft.... however... I thought I would go for something different today so I got the Geki Kara (EXTRA HOT). This was amazingly underwhelming, to the point that I think someone may have forgotten to add the chilli's to the dish. The rest was done well as with their Tonkotsu but with ramen, if that broth doesn't hit the right note then bang goes the dish. Hopefully it's just a one off. Again with the Chicken Kara-age. The chicken was cooked well but there was no flavour to the chicken and I can't believe that it has been marinated for long... this may however be due to the fact that it was swimming in grease (as you can see in the picture) that I couldn't taste much else. The chilli oil and the Rayu saved them a bit but on their own it was another lost effort. Added the pictures to show that I gave them a good effort before leaving this review.... guess I'll just be sticking to the Tonkotsu Ramen from now on.

Tonkotsu Walthamstow provides a great entrance to ramen and katsu Curry. The interior of Tonkotu is very cosy with vibrant colours and a very relaxing aesthetic. When discussing the food however it leaves you wanting more. The food is good and very filling but just that - good. For those who are experiencing ramen for the first time ,like those who I attended with, may consider it to be very good. But for those who love ramen the flavours are lacking. The King Prawn Chilli ramen for example dis not provide a single ounce of chilli. However for a quick and easy lunch or dinner tonkotsu will suffice. You will leave full if not stuffed, the staff are also lovely and help you further to be comftable. If not for the lacking food tonkotsu Walthamstow would have been a 4/5 stars.

Really wanted this to be good, but it was the worst meal I've had in a very long while. Arrived to collect, but there were three delivery people jammed in the entrance. One without a mask on. The noodles and veg were cold by the time we got home (5 min walk) and had to be reheated with the soup. I would have just cooked my own ramen myself if I had known this to be the case. The mushroom ramen was so salty even after I watered it down. Some of the noodles globbed together into one unchewable rubber ball. The dessert was even worse. The miso ice cream was fatty, foamy, simultaneously too sweet and too salty, but not in a good way. Oh, and the cauliflower was swimming in a lake of oil. Disgusting. Never. Again.

I am not new to Tonkotsu; I have been eating in the East London and Soho branches, with good friends and my partner for a long time and it never disappoints. I was excited to find out that it had branched out to Walthamstow, where I live. The space looks clean and beautiful, the usual minimal and personal style of Tonkotsu. We booked a time to pick up our delivery (Covid-19 means, we can only click and collect) and it was ready for us when we arrived. Everyone greeted us warmly and safety precautions were in place. Our food came in compostable containers, properly packed and it was fresh and delicious as always. Noodles made in house is a signature touch and no many places bother to put effort and love into homemade noodles and this team have done their research and have put a lot of time in making them perfect. We are both vegan, so we ordered dishes with no egg/ mayo. We love their gyozas and the broccoli as starters with the Japanese mushroom miso ramen for mains. Clean, delicious, thought out good food, transporting us to Japan, even if it is up the high street. Highly recommend this place for a quick bite or a big splash. It is unique, without being snotty, it's good quality without costing an arm and a leg. Click and collect for now, but when it opens again, I look forward to sitting down and getting my palette going with a yuzu lemonade. Welcome to...

Honestly one of the best restaurants I've been to. However, I've only been here about three times - nevertheless I never experienced anything negative.

The service is impeccable. The amount of times the staff have been kind to me. When I ask for something, they deliver with swiftness. They're always generous, and I have never been an unhappy customer. They ask you if you want bags, any extra sauces and all of that - not the other way around.

The food can never go wrong. I mean it's just noodles, broth and a bit of toppings on it. It's pretty simple as it gets, and the broth is actually very rich and fragancy. The fried chicken plus the mayo/chilli sauce is just heaven, one of the best I've had in the whole of London, no lies or exaggeration told. I just love the chicken and the mayo/chilli sauce, the combo gives that delicious mix between salty, sour, umame and more.

I haven't tried anything except those as those were just TOO good to order anything else, but from my experience 5 stars is a well deserved review for this amazing chain restaurant in...
