So this is my local fish and chips place and I agree the place is not as good as it was. I visited yesterday and got a large cod. I downgraded my review to two now. Look at the photo and tell me what you see. It’s black in places right? You know why and if you skip the est of my review pay attention to this only. when frying oil isn't changed regularly, it can lead to oxidation and the formation of harmful compounds. These compounds, such as free radicals and lipid peroxides, can contribute to inflammation and oxidative stress in the body when consumed. Overused oil also affects the taste and quality of food, making it less appealing and potentially unhealthy. What I mean by this is serious health issues. This lazy cook and the owner in particular are cutting costs because they don’t change the oil. This is now the worse dish and chips place I have visited. They use rapeseed oil which is better oil but they destroy it completely by re using it daily. This place was bought many years ago and all this owner had to do was maintain the quality. He hasn’t for th3 sake of profit so he lost all his loyal customers, including myself. This will be my last visit. I ordered takeway at around 2pm when they do their fish and chips special deal many months ago so you get it cheaper. I am a regular customer going there for years and they knew me. I went to pick it up and the owner charged full price. I asked him why he asked full price when I ordered during the special deal time over the phone and spoke to him (his staff always ask you want the sepcial ddeal but he never does!) he told me I did not ask for it. I was obviously furious. I was expecting him to say I can see you are one of my regulars and I made a mistake so I will give you the discount but no. That never happened so I paid ful price. I never went back after that. I hate peeopel like this and I am nnot supporting his business. He has absolutely no idea how to keep loyal customers so he lost one very loyal one and I use to order for the whole family every few weeks. When I walk past the place now I see very few customers. There use to be a queue of people when I use to go many years ago. Karma is a b1tch but some people never learn I guess. Lesson to owner in how to run a successful business: Treat your customers well and they will come back, treat your staff well and they will stay, charge competitive prices and don't over charge unless you have superior quality. EVERYONE wants regular customers. They are the most important people to keep you business going. I kow you bought the business with a good rep and existing staff and thats the secret of your success. Its too late to change and your shop is always empty. It's diappointing I have a local fish and chips place but i have to go elsewhere. Life is full of disappointments but I am not going back to a guy that charged my full price because I did not ask for it and then still chares me full price when I come to pick it up. Disgraceful.

A mid-week fish n chip craving sated by a delicious trip to Two Brothers. The fish was huge, fresh and delicious, the chips were chunky and the mushy peas smooth. A number of wines were sadly unavailable but our waitress was friendly and helpful in recommending alternatives, surprisingly better choices than we may have otherwise made. We could choose the table of our choice with a selection of bench and chair seating available. It was quiet when we arrived around 19:30 but suddenly the quite mid week became a busy bustling evening with almost every table occupied! The mid-week staffing level was perhaps a little short to cope with the sudden influx but the team pulled together well to ensure everyone at every table had a good and plentiful time. There is a step as you walk in through the front door that may be a challenge for people with mobility issues but we observed the team help those finding it difficult. Parking is on-street if you can find a space but busses stop nearby and the underground is a short walk away.

Exceptionally clean restaurant throughout! 👏 I must say, and this is rare to hear from me - almost everything was just perfect👌. All we ate was amazing except for the chips with parmesan. £5 for it was way too much, and I would not recommend this side. Dry parmesan on top of very dry chips. This must improve. The hygiene in the restaurant is top level.☝️ The floor is clean and mopped properly. No sticky chairs or tables! I like that a lot! There is no clutter of the cutlery. Service was great, too! Air-conditioning on just the right level, some places you may freeze to death. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, mainly for the quality and great taste of the food. Thank you! 😀

Oh dear! A bad faulty towers. Popped in for a mothers day meal. Our family has been based locally for generations and we have had take away from here since I can remember. We thought we'd eat in for the first time ever. Whoops, that was a mistake. Firstly we were placed on a table that was so drafty mum had to put her coat back on and the table was so wobbly we couldn't fill our glasses up for fear of them spilling. The waitress took our order, we questioned if she'd remember it without writing it down, she assured us she would and then progressed to repeated in incorrectly. Once we'd finally got her to repeat our order correctly, off she went. The straters came as did one of our main side orders. We then waited half an houir before realising a table of 6 and 2 either side of us had entered and recieved their mains whilst we were waiting. So we questioned the waitress and were told our were coming next. Another 15mins and we asked another waiter... and another waiter again... Whenthey finally came (with no apology) the grilled fish was bearly warm and very greasy. It had clearly been sitting in the kitchen for some time. We questioned it and were told "it's fine"! We asked the guy who appeared to be managing, he shrugged and walked off. When the bill eventually came we'd been charged over ÂŁ86 for 2 mains and one starter. It clearly wasn't our bill! Twice we questioned the bill, much to their confusion. Eventually we were asked by yet another waitress what we'd eaten. Then she disappeared and reappeared with another incorrect bill. By now all the floor staff were hiding in the kitchen, so we eventually paid, and left. No goodbye, no apology, no return visits by us, our family, our friends or anyone who reads google reviews. Want great fish and chips and friendly service? Go to Toffs in...

What can I say? The Two Brothers has really gone down hill from the 1990's. I've been coming here since I was 24, I'm 50 now. I remember the days of the Manzi brothers, it was excellent then, with get this, queues outside the door waiting to get in on a Friday night. Not anymore. The restaurant is good (though the 1990's was far superior) but the take out is really terrible now. This is the 3rd time it has been bad and we won't be ordering from here again. Take yesterday (2nd Jan 2021). I ordered fishcakes, chips and a cod for my husband. Chips should be yellow, with maybe some crunch (though I prefer mine sqidgy and soft and fluffy inside). When I opened our chips parcel, they looked awful. A small mass of semi brown, oily yuck! What happened there? My fishcake tasted stale and dry. I could tell that it wasn't freshly prepared. Husband gave his fish 7/10. We really wanted to go to Cannons in Cannon Hill but they were closed, so I chose TTB's. I've also made a complaint to the owner re: the chips a while ago now, maybe 5 months ago? He's quite a moody sort of person. Well, you simply can't have this kind of temperament when running a business. Cannons is so delish, high quality yummyness + they give you 2 nice non-acidic tartare sauce mini pots included in the price (circa ÂŁ21 for 2 fish pieces and chips) We'll be sticking with Cannons and looking for other superior fish and chip...
