Disappointing visit which was very strange. Firstly decor was simple and straightforward. It was very quiet in the shop which was already a bad sign. The staff member who saw to the tables seemed very junior and it must have been their first day as they didn’t seem to know how to do the basics of waiting. I’ve never done this job for money but you need to know the menu, take orders, lay out cutlery and always have your hands full either bringing or taking away plates from tables. You know it’s bad when multiple tables are brought their food and actually have to ask for cutlery. Each and every time. And the server doesn’t use the down time to simply lay out some cutlery. In terms of the food the seafood laksa was okay and not overly sweet as some places make this but didn’t have as many ingredients as I’ve seen in some photos and only tiny prawns whilst the kway teow had a nice flavour and ingredients. The nasi lemak was disappointing. Not enough coconut flavour to the rice and very little sambal on the plate. The chicken was excellent thankfully and perhaps the dish could be cheaply elevated by some Malay curry sauce on the chicken/rice as sambal anchovies can be expensive/difficult to acquire in the UK. The staff did kindly provide more sambal on request which I appreciated In all I’ve been to a handful of Malaysian restaurants and quite honestly am extra fussy as very few places do it justice when compared to other cuisines like Japanese or Chinese which are pretty spot on in the UK. Many others visiting appeared to be regulars so they are definitely doing something right. Though for me comparing the food to the images I saw beforehand felt like I visited a different restaurant.

We really like this place, I think it’s changed hands in the time that we’ve been going there but generally the food is super nice and the staff are pleasant enough. The food is generally either a set dish that is prepared to order or some kind of meal deal that is a little less fresh in that it has some time under a heat lamp, but both are nice. I pretty much always get the set meals but my partner dabbles between the various choices. We’re usually very happy with the end result. Facilities are simple, but good enough, no on site toilet (but I think this is as a result of whitgift management as there used to be one, it’s just closed off now). The only reason we wouldn’t give this 5 stars is that you can order the same thing two times and sometimes you get loads of seafood and sometimes they’re a bit tight with it. Dishes are generally around £7/ea, cash only, food quality is good, authenticity is creatively relaxed.

Came in to eat as a group. Overall, a really nice meal and we all enjoyed it. Restaurant decor is a tiny bit dated but the food is what you come here for, and the environment is much better than the old location in whitgift imo. The food was priced ok. Drinks are on the higher side of your familiar with wing yip pricing. That being said, the portion sizes for dine food in are very generous and the taste is authentic and delicious. The roti are also very nice. Decent size, chewy and crispy with a great curry sauce dip. My personal favourite. The staff inside were friendly and chatty providing very good service and a nice dine in experience. They were also very accommodating as we came for dinner but they still offered to cook some of the lunch menu street food items if we wanted them. Overall, the group had a nice Malaysian inspired evening! Roti, satay, laksa, rendang, chicken curry, fried rice all went down well.

I would not recommend this place for people who prefer to eat vegetarian meals. They carelessly mix up meat into veg meals. Even if you would ask them to do it again for you, they still give you the same food just by trying to take away the meat pieces on the same plate.

That means the cook is truly a lazy person to be in the kitchen or they don’t simply care for your needs. Also the owner doesn’t value your feelings and just justifies her neglect towards the customer by just saying ‘sorry’!

Also they don’t care where their cat goes around in the restaurant. It’s just everywhere but still they convince you by confirming that the cat usually stays upstairs in the apartment. The cat walks freely in the kitchen and dining area, even under the dining table. People who are allergic to pet hair must really take extra caution before going there.

Also the standard of food is not as same as before. Therefore think twice before you dine there. If you prefer veg food then totally avoid this place.

Definitely, they use the same wok to prepare most of the meals. Undoubtedly veg and meat gets mixed up so carelessly. Don’t let them to ruin your day. I wish I can post this review without giving even that 1 star.

If you eat anything then you can give a try...

I went with there with my friend to the new uncle Lims having liked the whitgift ones. The menu has coffee, Malaysian coffee and different coffees on the menu with options for hot and cold. I ask for a cold coffee and she asks me which coffee I want and I tell her just the option that says coffee. She brings me a hot black coffee that was too bitter to even drink, fine it’s just a mistake. The Seafood curry laksa was mid and not very good. By the end of the bill my order which should have been (£11.90 +£2+£0.10) came to £17.75 partially due to a £3 tip that they just added onto our receipt that my friend and I split. Before I could even take a chance to look at the receipts for what other charges have been made to come up this cost, the lady serving me immediately took the receipt and walked away. As a broke uni student who barely eats out this made me really upset, horrible service and just robbery :/ at least have good food and get my order right if this is that’s...
