I was initially thrilled when a new cafe opened in my neighborhood, as I always appreciate having more local options. I have a dairy allergy, so when I visited the cafe for the first time, I specifically ordered an Oat Milk flat white. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned into frustration and illness when I realized that the coffee I was served contained dairy. As a result, I spent the rest of the day feeling unwell.
To their credit, the staff acknowledged their mistake and offered me a replacement coffee. However, by that point, the damage had been done, and a simple replacement felt like a token gesture. Despite the initial mishap, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, understanding that mistakes happen.
On my second visit, things seemed to improve. I received the Oat Milk flat white I ordered, and it was delicious. I was relieved to think that the previous incident was an isolated occurrence, and I continued to support the cafe.
Unfortunately, my recent visit shattered that hope. To my dismay, the same waitress who had previously served me a dairy flat white made the same mistake again. When I pointed out the error, she audaciously insisted that I had not specified "OAT." This response not only invalidated my experience but also disregarded my dietary needs and health concerns. As a consequence, I am now not only feeling unwell but also deeply disappointed and angered by this lack of attention to customer needs.
It is disheartening when a cafe fails to prioritize the accuracy and consistency of their service, especially when it comes to accommodating allergies. Such negligence not only affects the health and well-being of their customers but also reflects poorly on the establishment as a whole.
I sincerely hope that the cafe takes immediate action to rectify these issues. It is crucial that they educate their staff about the importance of allergen awareness and provide them with comprehensive training to prevent further incidents. Consistency and attention to detail should be a priority to ensure that customers' dietary restrictions are respected and accurately catered to.
I understand that oversights can occur, but when they happen repeatedly and are met with dismissive responses, it raises serious concerns about the cafe's commitment to customer satisfaction and safety.
I genuinely wanted this cafe to succeed in our neighborhood, but unless there are significant improvements in their allergy accommodation and customer service, I find it difficult to recommend or support them in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI dropped in on a Thursday morning before 9am and ordered a V60 pour over. I was given a choice of three different beans and chose an anaerobic washed coffee, I forget the varietal. The cost of this filter coffee was Ā£5.10. The coffee menu is pretty standard, but for the filter coffee lovers note that they do this common thing of naming their batch brew āfilter coffeeā, upselling their pour over and naming it on the menu by its method ie V60.
Usually Iād like to drink in, so took a seat and thumbed a Jackson Pollack book. After ten minutes the barista came over and asked if I was in a rush. It was clear she had been prioritising other customersā drinks.
Itās quite a high footfall cafe which, at 8.45am absolutely should have more than one person at the coffee bar taking orders and preparing drinks.
Whilst there was no queue to order, I feel itās unfair to treat staff this way, to expect them to handle the entire shop on their own for a given period of time.
Eventually another person showed up but clearly you need to schedule three staff at any given time, to account for shift changeover, breaks etc, in such a way that it doesnāt overwhelm staff by leaving them on their own for 15-20 minutes. Especially at morning rush.
Coffee was reasonable but really not the experience Iād have hoped for - Iām talking now about the V60 that (eventually) came. It was nothing special. Tasted like it could have been batch brew! (I know it wasnāt, it was made fresh to order - just commenting on the flavour.)
Still - Iād...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo being new to the aromatic world of coffee ā I popped my coffee bean at this delightful place. Aaaand it did not disappointš.
Upon arrival you are met with a huge G'DAY! on the mat which I liked and was greeted with a very clean, modern and spacey decor. Along with polite and professional baristas.
My friend introduced me to my date for the afternoon, a full bodied flat white with a kick! Just because we have plant based milk definitely does not negate from the taste (I would say it enhances it personally). It was a beautiful tasting coffee just not enough cup size wise but then all good lovers always leave you wanting more I guessš.
It is a shame the area of Shepherds Bush isn't that great where it is situated but I understand it is trying and I think more nice places like Urban Baristas could help boost the image.
Anyway definitely give it a go if you're in the area, right by Goldhawk Station so you can't miss it.
Thank you for...
