We booked in for afternoon tea with the upgrade for drinks at ÂŁ55 per person for Mothers Day, the afternoon tea was extremely poor, a few finger sandwiches each and a few very miniature cakes, we had 5 drinks between 3 of us...the value for money was terrible but that was only just the start. My daughter paid the bill but then realised they had added a service charge of ÂŁ25 on and a cocktail upgrade of ÂŁ40, which we didn't have and this was incorrect. With regards to the service charge we didn't see the bill until after my daughter had paid and wasn't told about the service charge before paying. After we raised the discrepancy on the bill we were asked to go downstairs to get a refund from the main hotel front desk, well, it was the rudest and most awkward situation I think I've ever been in...4 people were 'working' on our refund for 30 minutes whilst we were stood there. Lots of huffing and puffing and eye rolling from the Eastern European woman behind the desk. Slamming things around and made us feel like it was our fault we had been overcharged. At the end I did express how we felt and that we were made to feel terrible when actually it was the waitress who had made the error. One of the worst customer service experiences in my life, clearly this woman should not be in a customer facing role if she cannot contain her disgust for paying customers that is an overpriced service from the start...basically you are paying for a view of the tower bridge that we didn't have a good view of as it wasn't by a...

After checking in last night I stumbled by accident into this lovely bar located on the 2nd floor. Initial thoughts, nothing special...however. I couldn't be any more mistaken. Firstly, I was gladly welcomed by a lovely lady in red uniform. She has taken me into one of the tables that were free at the time. I kindly asked if I can be moved into the table which in my opinion had better view than the others. She had no issues with that and once seated she even recommened me few drinks ,both of her choice and choice of most of their customers. I started with a pair of Whiskey Sour. It was very strong but lovely in taste ,especially good for a person like me who gladly enjoys drinks like Amaretto Sour. For the second pair of drinks of my choice was Old Fashion. It was presented to me unexpectedly with a cover which once was removed revealed a drink appearing from a cloud of smoke. Fantastic! Presentation ,spot on. Taste, even better. Throughout my visit I was well taken care of. Despite the fact that the facility was busy with customers, the staff found time to attend all my needs and from what I saw, the needs of other customers too. Well done. Once I'll be back in London I will make sure to pay a visit here once again. A big thank you to the staff working at a time ,especially Nadia and Natalia without whom this visit wouldn't...

Do not go here if you have any food allergies. Their tea service is deplorable if you do. I marked that I was allergic to one specific tree nut and they essentially wouldn’t let me have any of the tea plates except the sandwiches. Nothing on the regular tray was an allergen for me, so when my allergen free tower came out with two lousy slices of white bread straight from the bag instead of scones (which don’t have any nuts) I was very offended. The wait staff wouldn’t even address it. I finally flagged down the manager who was also obstinate at first. Seriously, white bread slices are not acceptable substitutes for beautifully displayed scones etc. Not one ounce of thought went into the subbing. For the price tag, it’s outright wrong. I hated getting bit heated but he finally relented and brought the scones to me. He did comp some champagne for the hassle, but the damage was already done. This is why I am not giving 1 stars. If nut allergies are so prevalent in the UK that you are taking such extreme cautions, then viable substitutes should be on hand. And on a case by case basis, the customer should be able to decide if the risk of cross contamination is there for them.

I neglected to take a full on photo of the sad tower with white bread, but you can see it in the photo with the regular tower on the...
