I went for dinner here today, having been previously and had a very positive experience with the food and customer service. I ordered Steak Frites for the main course and asked for the steak to be well done. The steak arrived and was inedible although I attempted to eat it but it was tough, grisly and pink. I told a waiter who took it away and cooked the same tough, grisly steak but as originally requested. It came back dripping in disgusting grease. I spoke to a waiter with extremely poor customer service skills and he proceeded to blame me for the fact that I asked for it well done. I reminded him that it was tough and grisly even when it was medium rare. He then proceeded to find another excuse by saying I'd ordered a cheap steak and you get what you pay for whereas a few moments previously it was apparently the fact that I'd asked for it well done. He was a poor ambassador for the Cote brand telling me that the quality of their cheaper food is questionable and I am the one at fault for ordering it. Perhaps it shouldn't be on the menu then! At no stage did he take into account the fact I was paying for this experience and his judgemental, superior attitude is not the way to treat paying customers if you want them to return. Read moreWe hadn't been to St.Katherine's Dock for quite a while and had been in the habit of going out in The City. For a change we thought we'd spend a sunny afternoon somewhere different and we are so glad we did. Approaching the entrance to the dock we were pleased to see a familiar name on an attractive venue surrounded by foliage and flowers: Cote! Stephen, the manager, greeted us with a warm smile and showed us to an ideally placed table overlooking the water. instead of just leaving us there he made sure the table was moved a little so we had plenty of room. It's not so relaxing when you are on a chair touching the chair of a diner behind you. That was very thoughtful. Even though it was quite busy, the drinks order was taken quickly. We had already looked at the menu when our drinks order arrived and our server, Angjelo, took the food order. We were pleased that the food was served fairly quickly as we were both ready to eat. The pork belly I chose and the mushroom bourguignon my wife chose were both delicious and served piping hot. After the meal, Angjelo and his colleague spent some some chatting to us and we found them very pleasant and charming. Stephen took time to speak to us for a while on the way out. Read moreWe went with a group of 9 for a team lunch today. The waiter served our table had a rather strange attitude towards us. When we were ready to order, we called one of available waitresses to come over. The guy immediately showed up and shouted at that waitress claiming our table was in his area and asked us to wait because he would take orders for another table first then came to us. Fine, if that’s the way how the restaurant is managed, but I am not sure how I was supposed to feel about this. Then he came to our table and asked if we wanted to order any drink. We said no (because we need to work in the afternoon). No one asked for his opinion but he commented it was the first time there was no one to order a drink for such a big table, it’s weird. (Excuse me?) Some team members have certain preferences towards the dishes they wanted to order such as sauces or sides, the guy’s comments just casually slipped out with his judging attitude. Maybe he just wanted to provide some recommendations with a good intention which I really can’t comprehend.
