Came here for a friend's birthday on Saturday. We ordered the set menu and paid £35 per head up front. Immediately we felt a sense of rudeness com the waiters, who refused to smile, were very bad in their service and didn't even bother to ask how is the food or if we are enjoying ourselves.
The starters were tasty but the kebab and chicken was really quite bad. We arrived at 8pm and didn't receive our mains until 9:30pm, we were only 10 people, it doesn't need to take that long. The kebab tasted like it has just come out of the freezer and the chicken was dry and undercooked.
Our whole table didn't finish the food as it just wasn't a good standard. For desert we had baklava which nobody finished after the first bite as it was not fresh, tasted out of a packet and dry.
The most annoying of the evening is that they knew we were having a birthday there (we did the cake and singing) and the staff were so unbelievably rude. So rough, sharp and harsh in their mannerisms. Waiters were interrupting conversations to urge you to order more drinks, nudging you whilst picking up your plate and taking away dishes when Tey weren't even finished.
There was a live singer and belly dancer entertaining the restaurant, when we asked to turn down the music just a little as we had an infant baby, they refused. We had to shout to speak to the person opposite us.
Another couple were having an argument with the management as they refused to pay their service charge and we're arguing about these same complaints too. We sat outside for sheesha after waiting 30 minutes for two underwhelming pots of tea to then be told oh the sheesha area is closing is 45 minutes. I have no idea who this restaurant thinks they are!
Really not worth the trip here, over priced, no views of the river, bland food and staff that should really be in another industry with that...
Read moreI Visited this restaurant this evening and had The most terrible experience ever! In my opinion they don't even deserve any stars. Extremely rude unwelcoming staff. Here is what happened: I go to restaurant with no body as I like travelling alone with a book. I approached a staff for a table outside and was told it was only for shisha I said ok I will eat inside. I sit inside on a lovely table and ordered a glass of red. After 5 min I was told by a member of staff I need to move as that table was reserved 😅. ( Extremely bad communication within staff) I was sat outside next to 4 lovely Canadian ladies ( who were NOT having shisha) The same gentleman who first denied table outside approached me asking me to move AGAIN 🤣.
At this point I asked him are we playing pinball?
He was extremely rude and told me that you only have 40 min on this table and then you have to go and the ladies are listening to this.
I felt Unsafe and unwelcomed.
I didn't want to order anything and I asked for a bill for red wine.
They give me bill with Service charge and I asked them to take it off.
Lovely Canadian ladies offer me food from their table so that I have taste of food as they have been watching how I was treated.
What a shameful and horrible experience.
I talked to Ali the manager and he was understanding and not even offered me refund for wine. He said what do you want? I said at this point I just want to leg it from here and offer something nice to the lovely ladies.
I made friends with ladies and something good came out of it anyway.
Don't go to this restaurant for service but I heard the food was good so go for food and probably go with a personal security...
Read moreGood tasting food but with only the falafels really standing out. There was a lack of consistency across the dishes with the falafels being amazing and the spicy chicken being bland, the okra was great whilst the lentil rice and onion was quite chewy and poorly cooked. Generally, the meats were good but ultimately, the service let the whole thing down.
Twice during the meal we asked a waiter for a simple request such as a drink or a menu, and were told 'one minute' before they walked away never to return. By half way through our meal we realised that we had to get up and physically tap our waiters on the shoulder to get there attention and get anything done. For context, while not serving tables, they would all have their backs to the tables either checking their phones or dealing with take away order at the til. This was further reflected in the number of times items and drinks were brought to our table that we had not ordered, demonstrating the lack of attention of the waiters. Some of these items also appeared on our bill at the end which was not very impressive though balanced by the fact that they seemed to forget certain items as well. Once the bill was amended we paid but it simply was a performance that did not merit more than 3*.
They handled the cake for the birthday well and overall it was a pleasant experience in the restaurant but could have been much more with a little refinement to the waiters training and the consistency in the kitchen across dishes. Be mindful of your bill and do not expect...
