Banyan on the Thames — Restaurant in London

This used to be one of our absolute favourite places to visit as a family/with friends, we were always accomodated not matter how many of us and the food was always the best quality!

Unfortunately our last visit was very disappointing and I think we're all so scared we will not be returning. We booked a table for a birthday, on arrival we had to wait, even though the table had been booked and we had spoken to someone numerous times prior to our arrival. Nonetheless, we didnt mind waiting because we knew the service and food had always been impeccable.

We sat down, we were squashed in the corner, some couldnt even get out of their seats without us having to move the table, the table was moving by itself to be honest, we didnt even have cutlery on our table, it was just all very poor standands and service.

We sat down and was not served at all! Despite calling a member of staff across, we had still not been given proper menus/a drink order made after 25mins! We all got up to leave to be honest after having waiting 20min to sit down and being with children it was all becoming too much. The manager saw and apologised for this, but at this point I think our birthday evening had already been ruined.

To be fair, it was a busy evening, however it gets very frustrating when you see people arrive long after yourself, be served and be given their food - and even enjoying it! before being served.

When our food eventually came, it was nothing like the usual, the fish and chips which are usually amazingly plated and they arrived like a child's fish nugget and chips on the plate - its shameful they actually expected payment for this.

All in all, we've not returned back and I don't think we ever will - we were really let down and for the prices on the menu, Banyan on the thames should be...

It was a pleasure to have met Masood and his team to organise my dinner party at the venue Rafayel on the Left Bank, Banyan on Thames. I must say that Masood did such a great job to organise my event, he really knows how to host a dinner event. It was such an incredible party, and honestly Masood worked so hard to put every effort and little details to make the venue even beautiful. You and your team did an amazing job hosting this event, and it sure was very memorable. It was genuinely a magical dinner. Many of the guest said that if it weren’t for this dinner, they would have not known about the restaurant and your expertise. They loved the location, the decoration and the whole organisation. So thank you so much for all your hard work and the effort you put into it. You went out of your way in such a calm and polite manner to full fill everyone’s needs. Banyan on Thames is such a wonderful choice, the service was amazing and so was the dinner served so quickly. The food was incredible and the restaurant was great. We visited Banyan several times in June 2024 as we stayed at the hotel Rafael on the Left Bank.

The location is ideal in Battersea as it right off the path by the water. It is a great place to have breakfast or a coffee in the morning as the many people are walking/biking by. In addition, the location is great for an after work or pre-dinner cocktail, as they have a very nice outdoor seating space along with a strong appetizer menu with usual classics.

We found the food to be of extremely high quality and significant value compared to other places in London. A special nod to the Indian food which stands out as the best we tried over our trip.

On our last night we ordered the steak which was perfectly cooked.

Waitstaff/hospitality: this is clearly a place that values repeat customers. We found the service to be prompt and accommodating. My wife has certain foods (gluten) etc. that she can’t eat and they went out of their way to ensure all was good. We had several extremely positive conversations with the hotel/restaurant owner, Mr. Latif. It was clear from these interactions, that he values feedback from guests.

A great business is always where the “chef eats what he cooks.” We saw Mr. Latif in the restaurant eating every night we went.
