Absolutely terrible experience. Visited this place on our last day at CentreParcs for a quick lunch before our adventure nets booked activity. We sat inside (2 adults 2 kids age 3 and 5) ordered our food. Once the food arrived, so did the wasps. Wasps everywhere. On our plate, drinks, no amount of ‘shooing’ away would help they just kept coming. Eventually my 5 year old got so scared after they wasps were landing on his plate and hair that he started screaming and just ran out the door without even waiting for us (he NEVER runs off like this). He was screaming, sweating, uncontrollable anxiety. He had only managed 1 chicken nugget and a sip of his drink. I had only managed to eat the egg of my meal, that’s it. The 3 year old then followed me and the 5 year old outside in all the commotion (or ‘excitement’ for him). So he only ate 2 nuggets.
Husband asked for a takeaway container as the kids refused to come back in, but they don’t offer this, they could only offer foil. I mean how to you eat peas off a foil?? Husband only managed half his meal also.
When husband went to pay, he asked if he could have the kids dessert to takeaway (it was part of the kids meal deal - main, drink and dessert). Waitress said no, as she hadn’t put it through as a meal deal, only as individual items (which is more expensive!) and she couldn’t change it.
My son was so distressed we ended up cancelling the activity as he just demanded to go home - as in proper home (we managed to convince him to go back to the lodge instead for one more night). As the activity was cancelled an hour before the time, we were only refunded 50%.
I since complained to CentreParcs and was refined the full amount for the cancelled activity. But nothing from the restaurant, which is disappointing. If these were flies or mice, it totally wouldn’t be acceptable. Wasps are also a pest (probably more annoying/troublesome than mice/flies) and I get we are in the middle of a forest (there are actually wasps everywhere outside) but there should be some kind of pest control when trying to have a relaxing meal. The restaurant has all the doors and windows open, they could have kept these shut to prevent so many wasps entering and those people who wanted to eat outside could have as there is so much outside...
Read moreWe came to foresters Inn to celebrate our daughters 5th birthday due to Hucks being shut for refurbishment, but will not be going back. We arrived at 7pm and were seated straight away, despite our booking being at 7.15pm which was good. The place was fairly quiet for that time of night which was a surprise. They took our drink order almost immediately, and then a few minutes later our food order. We ended up waiting over 15mins for our drinks and over 50mins for the food. They do not have a separate allergen menu, just a wodge of double sided A4 paper with every single item and its contents, which is technically all they have to do by law, but its the only place at center Parcs that doesn't have a separate allergen menu. As they make all their own food, nearly every item contained dairy - even sausages?! This meant there was very little for me and my daughter to have. Their service was not very good and people that arrived after us, were served before us. When the food did come out, they had ordered the wrong burger for my husband, but he ate it anyway as he didn't want to wait another 50mins for his food. Both the burger buns were over-cooked, well almost burnt. My dad had the mixed grill, and well, for £20 it was extremely lacking - he had 3 chicken wings, 2 kofte type things and 4 bites of flat iron steak that was totally over cooked it was near ruined. We were not impressed. At no point did any member of staff come over and check that we were OK and enjoying our meals, otherwise we would have said something then. We complained to the manager in the end as it totally ruined an otherwise amazing day. Luckily, my daughter didn't realise our unhappiness for the meal. We were so disappointed that we ended up taking our cake back to the lodge because we just wanted to get out of there. The manager was then quite rude to my dad when he went to pay the remaining bill. If you like good food and food worth paying for, I would advise...
Read moreIt doesn't happen often that I want to place a bad review but this place definitely deserves it! The service is so bad that if this was regular pub it will go out the business very quickly! We have experienced poor service on two occasions during our 5 day stay in Center Parcs. Jane at the bar on Monday was so disgustingly rude both, to me and my mother in law and to my husband. Her customer service skills were unacceptable, we waited at the table outside for 15 min then I went to the bar to order the drinks just to stand there for another 5min feeling lost and acknowledged then to be told by Jane rudely that she is very busy and someone will come to the table quicker to take the order.. no apologies no smile she just wanted us out of her way. 15min later my husband went in and was told by the same lady that if he waited at the table he will be served, my husband politely said we have been waiting for a while, for what this rude lady responded she can refuse to serve him. This is disgusting customer service! We had pre-booked table for the meal so we attended, service was not great and drinks service was so bad that our food arrived way before, the waitress came to tell us two of the drinks we ordered were unavailable however when the final bill arrived they were still on. Sits are not in the greatest state and general cleanliness is not great, one soap was out as well. Sadly not much positives, food was good. Chaotic, unmanaged and rude, very disappointing...
