I have never left Kokoro feeling unsatisfied. I have only had the chicken Katsu curry with white rice (Large which is the largest option) but everytime I get it, I am full towards the end and feelings like I over ate at the end. Despite this and me telling myself when I leave that I will get regular (The next size down from large and the smallest option), I still continue to get large because the food is just that amazing. The hot food and sushi/sashimi variety is many and so is the cold food in the fridge but the amount of cold food pales in comparison to other Kokoro around England. An example of a food item that is missing in this location is cheesecake. When you have the food ready to eat, you can either choose different plastic cutlery like forks, knifes and spoons or you can choose their traditional wooden break away chopsticks. Feel free to use the plastic cutlery but it's much more authentic if you learn to use chopsticks. You can take some home and practice. They also don't seem to mind if you bring your own chopsticks (which is what I do). The building has two levels, the ground floor where the entrance, fridge and counter is on has a few tables, chairs and a cutlery station but upstairs have many more tables and chairs as well as a second cutlery station. The first time you go upstairs might feel weird because it's up a spiral stair case and down this strange corridor which opens out into the room as you go around the corner. On the second time and beyond, it'll feel normal. The food service is relatively quick and the staff are also very kind. Some will ask you where you want the sauce whereas others will just add it on in a specific way without asking. If you use a tray with your food, it is unclear what you're supposed to do with it when you've finished. Originally I left it on the table which I now believe is wrong but after taking it downstairs, I realised there is no where to put it apart from in the hands of a staff member who you might have to get the attention of from the kitchen. It's not too bad after your third time going and beyond but can be a slightly confusing the first couple of times.

Asian Japanese fastfood. Simple menu choices and simple concept. Lots of room for improvements. The sushi boxes are very unappetising. The choices of food has no labels have to ask what's each one is, very simple yet forgotten basic detail. A nice hand washing sink would be appreciated and a cleaner more comfortable seatings would be least expected for the price. The worst part about the experience plastic bowls of the food. Very interesting how Kokoro failed this so bad. Small bowls with rice and noodles at the bottom and the choice of topping is on top! How did they expect people to eat the plate like that ? Have to finish the topping before seeing the base, which gets very soggy when reached. even worse they sell the damn plastic bowl for half a pound. McDonald's Cesar salad is better designed than this, disappointing basic details. Food generally was more than acceptable, nice combo of options and good set of flavours. Beef had lots of fatty pieces, and veggies are cut carelessly. Friendly staff though but management failure.

Amazing food. They do not lack with portions. They always fill my bowl to the top and overflows! I love it, very great for the price. Katsu chicken can never go wrong! Again they cut up 3-4 Katsu chicken breasts, and add it to your bowl. They’re not stingy with portions. Whereas you go to Wagamama and they give you one small piece of chicken and charge you 3x more than Kokoro. This is my favourite place to visit at lunch. Sushi is good too!

Came here after work and went with a Chicken katsu curry (always go with this as it’s my favourite). After sitting down and tasting the chicken I wasn’t happy. The chicken wasn’t hot and tasted as if it’s been in the hot hold all day. The curry sauce was also quite cold and the lady was scooping the last bit out for me.

I came up and asked very politely if i could have a fresh one (as they just made new chicken and curry sauce). This was apparently a huge mistake.

The man decided to eat my chicken and say it’s fine, it’s the best seller and I wanna hurt the family business. The women slammed my food on the counter and continued to call me a “scammer”

After saying I didn’t want a problem and I eat here all the time three workers were patronising me telling me “you’ve got what you want and you can leave my store”

Never in my life have I felt so awful at a restaurant. I took the food to take away as they made me feel uncomfortable. When opening the food up I received minimum chicken and a container just 90% full of rice.

Sadly I’ll never come here again. They don’t take cash and treated me like I was below them.

I hope you guys learn how to talk to people and accept when...

i went there a couple times now and i think it is safe to say that the food is nice most of the times but be careful who's serving you. Today me and the next customer ordered the same meal we paid exactly the same amount but she get least double of the meat then i do... We were served by the same person and still she couldn't least even it out, and both of our meal was less then what the customer in front of us get. (also the same type of food) I'm not sure why the server decided that i deserve half of portion for the same prize in the middle of the line. Unfortunately there is no other option in Maidstone for Japanese food so i have to go back, but if i had a choice i never go back...

Update.. This place is going down. I skipped a couple months but today i though i give an other chance. If I was upset before now I'm very disappointed.. I ordered a chicken katsu curry with rice. they give plain overcooked rice up to the top of the box, then 2 really small undercooked piece of chicken with minimum curry sauce, barely cover the meat. When i ask for more they wanted to charge 50p more.. So if you want to spend almost £6 on rice with little flavour on top you...
