This is a very nice venue with a comfortable ambience but sadly a disappointing afternoon tea experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. From reading the reviews and looking at photos, I had high expectations for a special belated birthday treat for my elderly relatives. Prior to sitting down we were asked whether we would like tea or coffee. Having provided our requests, we sat down and noticed there was a range of teas to choose from on the menu, which we had not been offered. My auntie commented on the light carpet, as beautiful as it was, being heavily marked. The refillable tea consisted of merely topping up the tea pot with hot water and so had to ask for fresh tea bags to be added. The waitress kindly brought us a fresh pot but the tea wasn't as hot. The actual afternoon tea was presented beautifully and a delicious array of sandwiches and pastries were consumed. The scones were unfortunately a bit dry and the jam was over set, making it more difficult to spread. The experience was topped off by the waitress asking me if I would like to settle my bill, as I was conveniently walking past the bar area, where she was standing, whilst on my way back from the ladies. I apologise if this all sounds a bit harsh. I'm not sure how you would market this restaurant / retirement village eatery. Whilst pleasant enough, it doesn't quite fall into the decadent treat I had hoped for sorry. Whilst the price of the afternoon is not high end. I do believe better value can be...
Read moreMy Wife & I went for an afternoon anniversary lunch. Excellent waitress service. Polite, friendly and knowledgable of both menu and wine selection. Easy, relaxed atmosphere with scenic views of the Worcestershire countryside. Good selection of starters, variety of mains and good selection of puddings. The Beef was outstanding. Really. Melt in the mouth. WOW factor ! Pudding was a Berry Crumble with custard. Again, 10/10. What a hidden gem this place is ! This is a Retirement Complex with a Restaurant open to the public. Would I visit again ? 100% yes. Price of two mains, two puddings, two large wines, plus a full bottle of wine, including a 10% non-obligatoey tip, circa £95.00. Well worth the visit. Excellent facilities, clean, tidy, spacious between tables and absolutely wonderful food. We will return & soon. Once people get to know what this place offers in Restaurant (food) terms, service & the quality of service and food presentation, it will take off to the...
Read moreMy Mother went here on Saturday night for her Birthday. She made a booking for 7pm and was hoping to have a nice evening in the restaurant. She made the booking over the phone and therefore spoke to a member of staff to make the booking. At this point she wasn’t made aware that the restaurant closes on a Saturday night at 8pm! Her birthday meal was cut very short and if she had of known the closing time when she booked she would have gone elsewhere. The waiter on the evening was clock watching rather than concentrating on the service he was supplying to the customer. My parents were back home by 20:30 on a Saturday night birthday celebration! Food was excellent and the restaurant is lovely but they need to tell people when they book if they are closing an hour after the time the booking has been made for. It’s a real shame that this has happened as my parents love the restaurant but only having an hour to celebrate mums birthday ruined...
