Today a picturesque vegan/vegetarian cafe, situated halfway up the hills. Atm it’s open Thur-Sun with lots of outdoor seatings in the garden. The cafe itself is housed in the octagonal building, which was added in the 19th century during its glory days. Back then, it was a popular retreat, where you could be treated with the ‘Cold Water Cure’, inspired by the Polish “Priessnitz Water Cure”. Briefly explained, you were drinking water, bathing, resting and walking in the hills for a minimum of 3 weeks. The retreat was well visited by the rich and famous… like Lord Tennyson, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria and Florence Nightingale… just to mention a few. And now me, Uki Bear 🐻😉 So it’s not only a cafe, it also brings a lot of history 🤓📚 And not to forget ☝️ the exemplary and friendly service 🙏😊 It was a true pleasure to visit...

Coffee was almost tasteless (I’m generally pretty easy to please with coffee, but on this occasion I agreed with my coffee-aficionado husband), hot chocolate was decent but rather overpriced for the size, at £3 for a small one. Flapjack was fine but nothing special, chocolate fudge cake was on the dry side and not fudgy, and again a bit tasteless. Service was fine but not really friendly - a smile would have been nice! Read moreI am fortunate to live in Malvern and love walking the Hills. This wonderful little cafe, St Ann’s Well, is situated a 20 minute walk from Great Malvern, and nestled amongst trees on the hillside. The very steep path is well worth the effort, probably not suitable for wheelchair users or folks that do not like exerting themselves too much.
