Just a few more years and the chef should finally qualify for chefs school ?? What a disappointment, we started the evening ordering a rock shandy for my wife, from the waitress to the barman had no clue what it was ?? Really ? Even putting together the ingredients so I could help them through their dire lack of knowledge was a challenge ! Or perhaps it was just because no one could actually speak English ( ... in England WOW I expect better from a English hotel ). Then I ordered a soup starter, that never arrived ? Roast chicken main and rib-eye steak, the steak served with a roasted garlic and grilled mushroom side ( well it was simply ONE slightly warmed mushroom and a half a raw tomato with a sprinkle of thyme OMG !!!) the chicken was definitely fresh as it still had the feather rachis attached 👍🏻 .... But not to worry any complaints will be met with cold discontent and ABSOLUTELY zero apology or attempt to to rectify the error. So it should be assumed this is no error at all but an acceptable norm for them .... sad but true. And just in case you thinking maybe it was perhaps a particular dish or our table ..... The 2 burgers served to the table next to us met the same standard as the stale 2 month old buns crumbled away to reveal questionable beef patties ?? So if you ever in Manchester my advice is avoid eating at the Radison Blu at all costs !! Awful,...
Read moreI actually opted to have food here purely out of practical reasons but was pleasantly surprised by the setting, the staff and the quality of the food.
Since I absolutely hate what Manchester Airport is becoming, I opted to pick my mum up from the Radisson Blu hotel instead of the actual terminal parking/pick-up.
Top Tip... if you are picking someone up from Terminal 1 or 2, ask them to walk to the Radisson Blu via the covered walkway. The cost for parking is similar to the terminal parking and if you spend more than £20 at the Bar or Collage Restaurant you get up to 3 hours of parking free of charge.
Since my pick-up time coincided with dinner time we decided we could as well have some food at the restaurant and we were very glad we did. We were in time for the early-bird menu and took advantage of this offer which actually was excellent. I really enjoyed the mussels in white wine starter and the salmon main was equally good (portion sizes were decent). Staff were very pleasant and the setting is actually very nice. Overall I found it to be excellent value for the location and comfort of this alternative...
Read moreOne of the worst hotel dining experiences ever. We stayed here same time last year and things were ok. Tonight however, I ordered calamari that ended up having some string-like rubber band around each piece cooked into the batter, clearly contamination or lack of prep. (We've made calamari from scratch in our home kitchen, and eaten it around the world, never had this gross, disgusting problem.) The staff showed little interest other than to say, "Would you like something else?" Discussing with host at end of meal, there was no indication of having reported it to the kitchen staff, no manager came to discuss, and they offered only to remove the cost of the item and 30% off the remaining food. "Linguini with prawns" had five small shrimp, and terribly overcooked mushy linguini. I know this is a hotel, where staff are in short supply and overworked, but the lack of care and interest in serving simply good food astounds me. Server never even asked how was the food or follwed-up for additional drinks or dessert. I'm a Radisson Rewards member, but I will NOT...
