We have dined at many dessert places in Greater Manchester and London and today I visited Creams after a few years with my 5 child to treat her for her efforts in school this week.
When we arrived, we waited to be seated as per the notice. At the time, It wasn’t too busy, there were no customers at the counter nor were waiting to be seated. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting, the manager shouted from the counter area, whether we’re eating in or taking out (very unprofessional). He then rang the bell for a member of staff to finally attend.
After placing the order, the desserts didn’t take long to arrive but when they arrived, it was such a disappointment. My child had a doughnut which was super dry and my cookie dough was super mushy.
I allowed my child to have her doughnut but I raised my concerns regarding the cookie dough to the waiter. He was lovely and very understanding and advised that this wasn’t the first complaint he’s received from a customer about the cookie dough and explained that the head office had changed the recipe slightly. He politely advised for me to raise it with the manager who will probably give me a refund or change it. As I didn’t want to leave my child alone, I politely asked if he could address this on my behalf and he did so. I was disgusted to hear the managers rude response ‘that’s the way it’s meant to be and has always been that way, everyone else has got the same and they’re not complaining.’ This was not the level of customer service I expected at all especially in front of my child! My 5 year old child noticed his behaviour and later questioned ‘mummy why does that man look so angry’.
The waiter returned and apologised. I felt bad for him as he tried to help but clearly didn’t expect that response either. He tried to rectify it and offered to put it back in the oven for few more minutes. As I didn’t want to make things difficult for him, I agreed to it.
I find it shocking to see that people lacking common sense and customer service are given a managerial role. But I’m assuming that’s probably cause no one else can be trusted on the tills which is a shame cause I guarantee that this place will attract much more customers if you have a friendly person behind the till, not someone who is cold and comes across as scary! This man has not changed at all.
When you run a business, you need to expect that there will be unhappy customers but in order to build a great reputation for your business, you need to try to ensure that complaints are dealt with professionally and in the right manner.
I hope the owner of Creams considers my concerns and is grateful for my honesty. Thank you for your time in...

Read moreI have visited creams in cheetham hill on a number of occasions with friends and family. But my visit yesterday was very upsetting and felt disgraceful by the approach and tone of the manager.
When I first entered we was greeted kindly and offered a table near the play area, but was advised to pay before we start using it. It was cash only which we accepted and the lady advised where the nearest cashpoint was. So I went to get cash out. As I come back I paid at the till and took my daughter to the play area. My daughter is autistic and usually has fear of play areas she is not familiar with, so requires assistance to guide her. Which I did taking her to the top showing the slide and getting her comfortable to overcome here fear.
The waitress came over to my wife and advised this is not for adults so I need to get put of the play area. My wife explained my daughter is autistic and requires assistance or she will cry in fear and we will have to go in regardless to pull her out. The lady kindly listened and advised she will speak to the manager.
I saw the manger and there was no kindness or pleasant approach in his tone. He clearly just said.' No adults and if you break it you will pay £1000.' If the manger had kindly just said I'm sorry no adults are allowed this is only for kids. Then I would have happily accepted it and maybe got off. But the customer service and tone was very disgusting.
There is also signs displayed saying kids should be supervised at all times. My daughter is autistic she loves soft play but also has anxiety been on her own of shes not familiar. What do I do if she gets stuck and crying who will help her. They said it's not made for adults. But I'm sorry very could be a young kid who's obese might weigh more than me. Yes it's safe for him?
I think you should clearly signpost to say no adults in the play area if you are not wanting anyone clearly in there.
But I also think under disability act 2010 you should have more respect and consideration towards kids with disabilities.
I looked forward to my desert and play with my family. But this was simply ruined by the attitude of the manger.
It looks like under new management. As the previous management was understanding about my daughter. And was happy for us to assist her in...
