FAC251 - Factory Manchester — Restaurant in Manchester

I've never seen such a rude bouncer in my life! I went to the Factory on Friday 29/03, with my friends we decided to go back on Wednesday 03/04. I arrived around midnight to join them and see them at the smoking area. I head for the main entrance and the bouncer tells me that "there's no single entrance", so I went back to the smoking area to inform my girlfriend. She asks the security guy and signals to her colleagues that it's okay. So I head back towards the main entrance, already facing 5 people, and the man I'm dealing with (a short black guy) stares at me. I take the first line because it's Wednesday, there's absolutely no one in line at midnight and the guy says to me "I told you to get in line, why are you going this way". I answer to him that there's absolutely no one in front of him and that if it's really disturbing that someone is using this morning, he should close it with barriers. As a woman, I felt that the guy wanted to make himself feel superior and hyper-highly haughty towards me, in order to intimidate me. Except that it was anything but professional. Then he takes my ID and the guy starts touching it and turning it around for like 20 seconds. In my head I thought it was a gag, the guy was much too comfortable, for me it was provocation (I'm 24 and I come from Paris). At that point I said nothing until he decided to grab my bag, the guy wanted to search me in a very imposing and disrespectful way, so I asked him to stop. And the big man (a very big Arab in the back) arrived and took his back because he realized that I wasn't letting him do it and that he was afraid there'd be a scandal in front of the factory: "If you don't want us to search your bag, don't go in", whereas the guy had already started begging my bag in all directions. So I decided not to go in. In real life, in France, this would never have been accepted.

I'm not making any generalisations, because the big black man from the secu was very nice and tried to change my mind. Also, I met some guys at the smoking area who confirmed that the bouncer was abusive (they left afterwards because the atmosphere inside was getting weird), but I don't waste my money in a place where the bouncers don't know how to receive the public. It was borderline "get on your knees to get in" lol Just yesterday I discovered the definition of abuse of...

Firstly, staff members have favouritism and they are extremely rude don’t explain anything, me and my friends went toilet since there was only one toilet roll everyone was sharing it and one of the staff members shouted at us blaming us for clogging the toilet but there were already clogged when walking in. £2 to go the smoking area is honestly unacceptable and the bouncers were quite rude about it. There was 2 staff members who tried to pick a fight with us, one of the staff members said to us that his colleague was going for a poo me and friends didn’t say anything, when she walked out she started assuming that we were laughing at her but we were just having a normal conversation between ourselves. Then, once again the bouncers kicked us out even though she was the one who was picking and shouting at us and also swearing at us and calling us names, she was as well and his colleague extremely rude and no one truly cares about her going toilet… This was our first time going out in Manchester and it was a poor experience. Please, just train your staff members properly because if they pick a fight with drunk people then they are working in the wrong place since I’ve seen that they have no manners and customer service. In the meantime we will not come back here...

I’m from Manchester myself and have been to this club (unfortunately) on a number of occasions, however I feel as if I’m obliged to post this following a number of very disappointing visits.

BOUNCERS: search every single male customer (including myself) as if we’re Pablo Escobar searching through our wallets and other possessions and getting a weird kick over doing it (very sad if you ask me). They’re also downright incompetent that they refused one of my friends In even though she had a legit ID and threatened to confiscate it. Just screams power trip and small man syndrome

CARD SPEND: it’s 2023, why do you have a £5 minimum on card, seriously grow up !

BAR STAFF: In general rude, not helpful and seem to find it amusing that the card min spend is £5 and find it amusing that people have to fork out for a double (which tastes appaling btw)

SMOKING WRIST BAND: Noting sums up the money grabbing of this establishment more than the fact they expect people to pay 2 quid for the privilege of paying to stand outside. No ever club would expect this

To make a long point short, I would urge anyone with any common sense to avoid this place like the plague until they knock some sense...
